"Becca!"
I turn and frown. Dylan doesn't usually run like that.
"Becca, I... I..."
"Spit it out!"
"I love you"
I'm taken back. Then I'm mad.
"You panicked me for THAT?" I yell.
He looks sheepish.
"Some of the guys pushed me into telling you. I wanted to do it before I lost my nerve."
I try to stop hyperventilating and be happy. He likes me! I like him. I've liked him for ages. But I can't be happy right now. "Look Dylan, I like you too. But now isn't a good time. I'm waiting for news from my brother. He's on a quest." I can't keep the bitterness out of my voice. I've wanted my own quest for AGES.
Chiron doesn't think I'm ready to lead one though. I still need to learn when people are tricking me and when people are honest. He says because of my... disturbing past, I have trouble trusting people. Well, I guess you could say that.
