Jim's Lean-To

ooc: hehehe stump hand. It just sounds funny
bic: Like a wierdo, I kiss his stump where his hand was supposed to be. "You could, but the only thing stopping you is yourself. Would you like me to teach you?"

I shrug. "Sure,"

"Okay!" I come behind him and hand him the bow. I set the fox on the ground. "Let's start with something easy...." I scan the woods and spot a nest. "Ah! You see that nest over there?" I point towards the robin's nest.

"Yeah," I nod. "Wait... How do grip the bow and the arrow? I only have one hand!"

"Hmm...." I think for a minute then snap my fingers. I angle myself and aline my arm to his, making it seem as if my hand was his and grabbing the drawstring. This is difficult because my arms are shorter than his, but I make it work. "Now with the other hand, grab the arch. Just move as I do."

I feel his tension. "Here, bend your arm into mine while I hold the string, hold the other side up in front of you like so." I lift his opposite elbow so it bends properly in front of his chest. With my hand, I slowly pull back. I load an arrow.

I grin. Hey! This was actually working! But I couldn't have Demetri holding the bow for me when we were actually hunting. I realized that I would need to use my hand to pull back the arrow and the draw string. My problem was being able to grip the bow with "Stumpy". I needed some sort of special bow... Maybe, one that had some hole in the middle that I could put Stumpy into, then strap into my wrist, like they do with peg legs.

bic: I smile up at him. "Ready?"

I nod, growing excited. "Yes!"

I pull back on the string until it touches his cheek. "Aim!"

I point it towards the birds' nest. I look at her, blushing a little. "Ready!"

"Fire!" I giggle and release the string. The arrow flies straight and....misses the nest. A robin's call sounds off in the distance not far off. "Uh oh."

"What happened? What did you do?"

"I think I killed a robin." I smile and giggle shyly. I come around in front of him holding the bow. I blush.

"Oh no! That's awful," I say andlook down. "It's my fault

I kiss his cheek. "How the heck is it your fault? Really, Jim."

"Oi, I aimed!" I grin

"I shot!" I argue, laughing. "Y'know what, let's just cook up this furball." I smile, gesturing to the lady fox I killed. "Maybe I'll make you a coat." Teasingly, I stick out my tongue.

"Maybe I'll make make YOU a coat!" I fake argue

I laugh and pick up the fox. I go for my knife at my belt and carry her to the lean-to to skin her.

I follow Demetri quickly, still feeling pretty worthless

After the fox is skinned, I look it over. "Hmm..." I think to myself.

"What's up?" I ask

"How should we cook it?" I mentally go through classic recipes, then more advanced ones.
