I look up sharply. "Liz?" I get up and run to her side. I feel her pulse. "Can someone help me?" I shout around. I get several stares back. "Well?" I order, agitated. "H-E-L-P! That spells help! Do you not understand English?" A man with a handlebar mustache walks over. "I'm a doctor. How can I help?" he says. I look at him desperately. "My girlfriend just fainted." The doctor nods and pulls that one thingy doctors always have. He starts checking Liz's heartrate.

I grip the string of my necklace carefully, not wanting to hit the charm by accident. "Are you sure? I mean, we--" The waitress walks over with our drinks and cuts me off. "Here ya go: one Pepsi and raspberry iced. Ya'll ready to order?" She says cheerfully. I look from her to Liz and back. "I'll, uh. I'll take a ribeye. Medium, please." I sit back down and guide Liz back to her seat. The waitress jots everything down then looks at Liz. "And for you, sweetpea?"
