"HAH! BULLSHIT!" Shrike cried jovially, keeping his eyes on Gwen. He chuckled, thinking of the situation he was in, hanging above his kinda girlfriend.

"Aw fine," Shrike chuckled, before backflipping from the fan and hitting the floor with a soft *pat*. He walked over to a chair nearby and sat down, smiling, before a dark thought crossed his mind. He frowned, his face showing his disturbance.

"What's wrong Shrike?" Gwen's facial expression was worried "Are you okay?" She was thrown off guard he was happy a moment ago, Gwen wondered if she did something wrong.

Shrike's gaze grew serious and stern,
"I can sense them, theyre coming back. The demons." He turned to face Gwen and continued his exposition.
"Not so long ago, demons attacked us and the camp. One was defeated by two Egyptian kids, Akins and Amen-Ra, another was defeated after a long and gruelling quest which saw the death of Dez and the almost death of Catos and myself. These monstrosities have polluted our camp experience ever since we got here, and Dez, Catos and my own recovery was due mostly to blind luck." A single icy tear leaked from his eye,
"We have to defeat them at all costs; they have this strange vendetta against us that they wont hesitate to enact on. Unless we defeat them first, our lives, and the lives of everyone at Camp Half Blood are in dire peril. And I can sense one of them, I can smell its influence riding on the air."

Gwen let out a deep sigh "It comes with the territory, we're demigods. Always plagued with monsters and demons alike." She hung her head and stared at her feet "Shrike promise me....promise me that you'll come back alive...." a few tear drops hit the floor. Gwen hated the vile creatures, they had taken many friends from her, and a boyfriend once. If something happened to Shrike as well she would be a wreck all over again.

Gwen lifted her head and looked at Shrike, a few tears still streaming down her face. "If that's all you can promise I'll settle, just fight your hardest and come back. Please, I can't loose you too."

Gwen was a bit hurt that Skrike was laughing about something so serious but she didn't say anything. "Thank you." she said plainly devoid of feeling.

Shrike noticed Gwen's unusual behaviour, picking up on the lack of emotion in her voice.

"It's not your fault. I just don't want to see you hurt...or worse." Gwen wiped the tears off her cheeks with her sleeve. "I've seen a lot of people I care about get seriously wounded and many very..very close friends die." She just wanted Shrike to know that she genuinely cared about him.

Dez walked up to Gwen's door, and lightly knocked on it. Thinking about it, he realized that Gwen had never actually met him... well, it was too late for that now.

"Gwen it's Skylar and Dez. I have great news!" She exclaimed her voice filled with joy.

Gwen didn't know that Dez had died so she assumed nothing was out of the ordinary. "It's nice to finally meet you." she held out her hand to him, her voice sugar sweet.
