    Friendly Competition Empty Friendly Competition

    Post by Daffodil987 2/28/2015, 7:16 pm

It was a perfect February day, such a shame Madison had decided to waste it by going out to sword fight.

Madison hated that Chiron made the campers have at least a couple of sword-fighting practices so they could 'survive' in the 'real world'. She could survive just fine without any fighting skills or fancy weapons, thank you very much.

Madison had been going to Camp for two weeks now, and she had to admit, she was having a lot of fun. There were plenty of cute boys to hit on, girls who listened to her and did what she said, and her cabin mates, who respected her.

She pumped her legs, charging at her opponent, some boy from the Demeter cabin. Even though she wasn't a great fighter, the boy was scrawny enough to look like someone Madison could easily beat. She slashed her sword against his with such force him stumble back in surprise. Madison step forward, and after a couple more minutes of clashing, the boy stepped away, defeated.

Madison smiled, she was doing great today! She twisted around and spotted a rather familiar face.

    Cleo.

Madison arched her eyebrows in surprise, she didn't except to find any Aphrodite kids here. Ah well, she was probably here for the same reason as Madison.

Sashaying over to her, Madison waved and smiled and friendly smile. "Cleo! What brings you here?"

"Same thing that brings you here, darling," Cleopatra replied.

She had put on her pastel pink painted breastplate, reinforced by protective golden scales here and there, her equally pink helmet on her head. She had a pale white sports tee underneath, long leggings and Nike shoes, showing off the shape of her body. She looked like some kind of Afro-American Warfare Barbie doll.
With her dagger strapped at her side and her two fan holders on her hip, she turned to look at Madison, her green eyes shimmering with make-up.

"Care to dance?" she asked, taking out her two flamenco fans and opening them with a flick of her wrists.

"I'd loved to, darling." Madison advanced towards Cleo, smirking.

"Assuming that is, a pretty girl like you would know how to fight?" Madison voice was barely audible over the sound of other people swords hitting each other's. She edged closer, narrowing her eyes, trying to see if Cleo would back off or start the fight. She noticed Cleo was slightly taller than her, about five inches maybe. Not that it matter much, height was only minor detail, fighting mostly consisted of skill.

Madison took out her dagger, white with blue tint to it, and a hilt wrapped in royal blue suede. She held it out, ready to strike.

Take your narrow-minded stereotypes and shove them somewhere painful, she thought as she overheard Madison's whisper. Who did she think she was? She had been here for two weeks. Two weeks. Cleopatra had been here for four summers. I think I know who the better fighter is.
Granted, Cleopatra didn't like to fight, at least not like this. Her fights didn't include punches and stabs, she was a bit more subtle than that.
Fanning herself with the left fan, she waited for Madison to open the ball.

Seeing as Cleo wasn't going to start the fight, Madison surged towards her and jabbed her dagger towards Cleo's chest. She then spun around Cleo, Madison slammed the flat side of her dagger at Cleo's back. A cloud of dust trailed behind her as she spun around. She panted, smirking at her fast reflexes, her in a messy bun and she had on a blue Celtic bronze chest plate along with jeans and sneakers. Her eyes dazzled with mascara and her lips shimmered with her lip gloss.

Fortunately for her, four summers of training saved her from Madison' innate battle reflexes. Opening one fan in front of her chest and the other one in her back, she parried both blows and turned around to face her. Her fans still looked like normal flamenco fans, albeit glittering a bit with bronze threads, then Cleopatra clicked the button at their base and the spikes clicked out, the black lace revealing iron-sharp blades. Then she attacked.
Now Cleopatra wasn't a particularly good fighter, she did have some good moves but she generally relied on her powers to win physical fights so for someone who's supposed to have some demigod training already, it wasn't the best performance. However it was still better than Madison's two weeks so she slowed down, not wanting to give the whole show. They stabbed and slashed and parried in a spinning movements, Cleopatra using mainly her precision to ward of Madison's attacks and aiming offensive hits herself. Maybe she should've sped up a bit though, as Madison managed to cut through her bare arm, drawing blood. Cleopatra cried out and almost dropped her fans, looking at the dark and viscous liquid seeping out of the wound.
Without a word, she sped over to the refreshments table and dropped a trickle of nectar across it, rubbing it in for quicker healing.

Madison jaw dropped as Cleo presses a button on her seemingly ordinary silk flamenco fans, and watched as spikes and blades curve through the black lace. She quickly recovered, however, as Cleo attacked her. She was doing a much better job of fighting then of what Madison excepted and Madison founded herself gasping for breath as she tried to keep up with Cleo's stabs and tried to throw in some of her own offensive hits herself. After a while it all seemed like a lost cause, Cleo seemed to definitely be more skilled than Madison, and as she strikes and twisted, Madison could feel her energy leaving her. Trying her best to still keep up Madison spun once more (this time a bit more clumsily), and tried to thrust her dagger towards Cleo again. It was a terrible aim though, and she ended up cutting Cleo's arm.

She wouldn't have noticed, and kept fighting, but she could practically feel her dagger splice through Cleo's flesh. She felt herself hitting Cleo, but unlike so many times before there was no cink of metal hitting metal, and no hard surface for the dagger's blade to bounce off of.

Cleo let out a pained cry and spun off towards a table, rubbing something that looked a bit like ointment on her arm where Madison had hit her. Crap, that wasn't suppose to happen! Madison felt panic flutter in her stomach, as she rushed after Cleo. Surely now, Cleo was going to unleash her wrath that Madison knew she had been holding back from her since they had met. Keep it cool, play cool, act like it's not a big deal. If Cleo still wanted to play nice-girl after all this time, then maybe Madison would have nothing to worry about. She just had to not make a huge deal of it, if she did Cleo would probably too.

"Please.", she walked up behind Cleo who was still rubbing ointment on her arm. Madison rolled her eyes and crossed her arms as she continued, "It's not that big of a deal. Don't you deal with these kind of injuries all the time being a 'dangerous' half-blood?" She cocked one of her eyebrows when she finished, praying to the gods she hadn't upset Cleo that much.

ooc: Actually happy with this post, it doesn't completely suck. xD
