Seraphina Hunter of Artemis Empty Seraphina Hunter of Artemis

Post by Jordan 10/6/2013, 2:16 pm

    Seraphina Jessel, Hunter of Artemis
    Spoiler:

Name:  Seraphina Jessel of Bly. When passing for a mortal, Seraphina will call herself “Sera”.

Mortal Parent: Seraphina’s mortal mother had no position to royalty, in fact, Sera’s mother was a maid. She served the wealthier, Quint family in their estate in Essex of England. Flora Jessel was paid to watch over the children that her master was too busy for. Often finding it enjoyable or rewarding, Flora yearned for a child of her own.
Flora was a pretty dame, she had long blonde hair, and was particularly curvy. Both her hair and her figure. She was considered attractive and found that she enjoyed making people smile. One night, after walking through the gardens before bed, a man appeared to her and offered his hand. Flora was almost hypnotized by his presence, following him further through the gardens where they made love. Flora later discovered she was pregnant and several days before she gave birth, was confronted by her lover who revealed his true identity. The man confesses he was a god, and left her that night.

God Parent: Harpocrates, god of silence is the lover of Flora, and the father of Seraphina.

Date of Birth: Seraphina was born on a cool and rainy, April 30, 1898. The daughter of Harpocrates has been fourteen for about one hundred-fifteen years.

Place of Birth: Seraphina was born in the estate of Bly. After her mother’s pregnancy, the Estate gathered the correct items needed to effective child birth. Flora was always grateful to her master for accommodating her so. Bly is positioned in Essex of England, just north-west of London.

Hometown: Seraphina grew up in Bly, alongside the other children which her mother cared for. She lived in the small county of Essex.

Race/Ethnicity: Seraphina possesses a mix of several races. Her lineage can be traced back to Scotland, Poland, Sweden, and of course, England.

Accent: Seraphina has an accent that is a mix between English and Scottish. Her accent has faded over the years, but is still present, especially when flustered or stressed.

Skin Tone: Sera has a very fair skin tone. Her skin never tans too much, and remains almost luminescent under the light of the full moon.

Eye Color: Sera has wide blue eyes that almost become navy as the night approaches, some have said it seems she has stars in her eyes. Around her eyes is a thick frame of lashes.

Hair: Seraphina has long blonde hair. Her hair’s color comes from her mother, but is almost white, technically a platinum blonde. Her hair darkens towards the roots, and is normally kept back in a long braid. When hanging free, her hair takes on a wavy appearance, but will normally lay straight. Under the full moon her hair almost glows.

Height: Sera stands five feet and six inches tall. She’s not really the tallest of the Hunters, but she doesn’t focus too much on trivial things like appearance.

Weight: Seraphina weighs about 124 pounds, give or take. She’s a healthy weight for her height, and even has some curves to her form.

Body Type: The Hunter of Artemis as a curvy, almost voluptuous girl. She has an athletic figure and is pretty physically fit. She is considered attractive, but doesn’t use her looks for leverage, she likes to be quick and clever.

Appearance: Seraphina has a rounder face with rosy cheeks to highlight her pallid complexion. Her hair sits in waves around rounded features, light eyebrows, light pink lips, and a smaller, curved nose. She has light pink lips that are normally chapped or slathered in chapstick and has a smaller gap between her front teeth. She has wide blue eyes, thick eyelashes, and long slender arms and legs. Her hips and thighs are wider but offer more power in her sprints, and maneuvers.

Weapon: In her possession, Sera wields a long polished birch spear with a celestial bronze tip. For added efficiency during a hunt, she also carries multiple nets, ropes, and weights for effective capture of a target. Like every Hunter, Sera also brings a polished birch bow, with silver arrows, made from celestial bronze, as well as a hunting knife.

Armor:  For armor, Serphina wears a light weight leather armor over her torso. The armor is form fitting, and dyed white with an engraving of a moon.  As for other armor, she wears silver, celestial bronze guards on her forearms and shins. These are heavier duty, and offer a bit more protection than her leather breast plate.

Pet(s): For companions, Seraphina keeps a snowy owl for scouting, named Archimedes, or Archie for short. And a black bear named Othello, used for carrying larger supplies like tents. Othello is an average sized black bear, standing only 35 inches at the shoulder, about the height of the grey wolves that follow the Hunters.

Skills/Talents: Like most hunters, Sera is a great shot with a bow and arrow, a very quick runner, thinker, and finisher. Sera is able to see the good in a situation, and is great at sneaking up on her prey. Sera is a great scavenger, hunter, and is a great cook, able to utilize plants and herbs for added flavors in her meals.

Flaws: Seraphina can sometimes get carried away with her fun. She loves to enjoy herself, and sometimes doesn’t know when to stop joking, and when to start a job. Sera can be seen as stubborn. She won’t take no for an answer, especially someone is upset, she takes it upon herself to make them feel better. The daughter of Harpocrates finds she can be easily offended, and when she’s upset, she will be for a long while, and it takes a little more than apologizing to make her feel better. Adding to her previous flaw, when she is mentally or emotionally distraught, she’s manages it through action. When upset she fights monsters and can easily be over powered due to her cockiness, and her desperation. One of her most noticeable physical flaws is a gap between her front teeth. She’s often made fun of this, but she embraces it when she feels her best, and will poke her tongue through the hole when overly happy.

Strengths: Sera is great with animals, and has great control over pegasi and horses. She’s always able to make the best out of a bad situation, and can usually get people to smile or laugh. When feeling down, she is usually able to get people feeling optimistic again, and prides herself in her ability to be an easy person to talk to.

Weaknesses: She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, and can sometimes have lapses in judgment. Her love of jokes and puns can sometimes be seen as annoying, and her optimism isn’t always appreciated, especially when there is no point in being happy, like after a terrible loss, or a death.

Likes: Sera likes smiling, singing, dancing, and having a good time. She loves bonfires, and spending time with her shield sisters, and enjoys listening to people talk about their interests because they usually smile when they do, and that’s all she really needs.

Dislikes: Sera doesn’t like arguments, anger, or being sad. She hates being on her own, and having to leave a comrade behind. She doesn’t like losing, or sore winners, and definitely doesn’t like death.

Fears: Seraphina is terrified of being left alone to die. She understands that death is a possibility, but would want more than anything to be surrounded by her loved ones as she passes.

Personality: Seraphina is optimism personified. She loves to sing and dance and overall be happy. Sera needs no meaning in her life, just a smile, a friend, and a home. She loves to tell jokes, and make people laugh, but can be mature if the situation calls for it. Sera enjoys making new friends, and studying art and especially the human form. She enjoys studying the anatomy of men and women, and though it might be seen as an attraction when she sketches men, it’s merely an appreciation.
Sera is fairly adventurous, always willing to try new things, but is cautious if the new attraction seems dangerous, or has the chance of causing injury. Sera can be easily swayed to do a challenge she was previously nervous about if one of her sisters convinces her of her own safety.
Sera is always willing to add new people to her list of loves. She likes making new friends and bonds and relationships, and like some hunters, isn’t against befriending boys, but won’t partake in a relationship with them. She knows her boundaries, and isn’t going to betray her sisters for someone who will probably hurt her in the end. She is a very lovable and social person, and will love someone forever, literally, if they can make her smile.

Powers: Sera’s father is the god of silence, so she has the ability to muffle her own, or her teammate’s movements. The muffle works as an illusion, affecting the mind of a specific target so they are unable to pick up noises coming from the hunters. The muffle is resistible, and can only work on 3 targets at a time, cutting the use by more than a half.  After a full night of sleep, Sera is able to perform this once every 24 hours for four minutes at a time. With each additional target it loses a minute, so if affecting 3 targets, she can only perform this ability for 60 seconds. The ability is resistible through knowledge that the muffle is in use, or through concentration. The loudest sound she could muffle is a footstep, anything louder, like speaking can still be heard.

Years as Hunter: Seraphina has spent about 101 years as a hunter, and is sometimes still considered a “newbie.”

Life Before the Hunters: Seraphina lived in the Bly Estate with her mother. She helped her mom keep the children in check, even though they were all older than she was. She learned quickly how to act properly, and was even able to help her mom clean around the house when Flora’s energy drained. When Seraphina turned twelve, she had fully taken over her mother’s job who had fallen ill. Flora spent her last few years in bed, completely exhausted, cared for by her daughter. Master Quint, of the house of Bly allowed Flora to stay in the guest room, but sought too much in return. When Flora was fourteen, the master of the house came for her. Threatening to throw them out on the street, he requested Sera pay him certain favors. When she became resistant, her turned to force to get what he wanted. He exposed himself to her as she fought and just before she gave up, an arrow flew through the air and grazed the man’s cheek. He stumbled back, and Sera was able to escape before a young woman appeared surrounded by wolves. The man fixed his appearance and was allowed to return to his home without further argument.
The dark haired girl had an odd air about her. Almost ancient. The girl, named Zoe Nightshade, led Sera through the underbrush to a small camp with wolves around its border. Seraphina’s wounds, like bruised wrists, and scrapes were tended to and her tears wiped from her face. For the first time in her life she felt she was being treated like a princess, like royalty. Seraphina was introduced to Artemis, who explained the purpose of the hunt, and the requirements that went along with it. After a bit of thought, she accepted the invitation to the hunt, confessed allegiance to Artemis, and in the same moment, was claimed by her father, and was informed of her mother’s passing, almost like she was holding on until she knew her daughter was safe.
Seraphina shared a tent with a girl who was physically older than her by a day, but had live for about a hundred more years than she. Sera got off to a rocky start with the girl, but the two became close after a difficult hunt. Their personalities work well for eachother, Sera’s optimism can help Aria loosen up, but Aria’s sense of purpose helps Sera focus on a goal.

Roleplaying Example: Sera rushed alongside her fellow hunters. Aria was at her side, though she took the lead a little bit…  Silent commands were issued as they approached their target, a monster that had been roaming through a small town in Maine. Silence fell over them as a few of the falcons overhead caught sight of the target, the time was now! Seraphina drew her bow and notched an arrow. As practiced so many times before, they separated, creating a perimeter around the scaled, seven headed dragon, most likely a hydra. Their arrows would be immensely useful against this monster, and the time to fight was now. Sera lunged forward after firing an arrow and removed a weighted net from her backpack. The monster’s heads whipped in multiple directions as arrows came in contact with its flesh. The daughter of Harpocrates leaped over the hydra, drawing the net behind her. The cords caught around the monster’s heads and pressed the monster to the ground as it became entangled. More arrows flew through the air, and the monster flailed as death came closer. One final arrow struck, and the monster fell limp, and began to dissolve into dust. Sera grinned widely as the other hunters approached. She collected her net and draped it over her shoulder, “well I guess he’s KNOT coming back!” She beamed, proud of her joke. “Ah? Get it?” She grinned wider. A few displeased grumbles exited from the group and finally a  “Oh my gods Sera.”

May I ask why kids of Athena would be resistant to the illusion? How far away could she be at most in order to use the power on her targets?

For me at least, I just like to think that children of Athena are naturally resistant to illusions. It might differ from opioniin to opinion, but that's what I like to think.

She must be 15 feet away in order for her ability to work.

I think you should edit the little note about the Athena kids out; it's a rather sweeping generalization. Can she muffle only a certain number of people's movements, or do the Hunters have to stay close by her in order to keep their movements muted to the target?

Oh, It can only muffle the movement of 3 hunters. And they must remain 4 feet away from Sera at most for the ability to work for them.

I've been waiting for the drachma transfers in the Designer Forum to be completed. Once the transfer has been done, I'll have enough.
