Fenella strolled onto the beach, mildly annoyed that it wasn't warm enough to swim. She had a cute bikini that she had bought in late October, in short, before the snow. At any rate, she was upset that no one had even asked her to the Halloween Dance. Anyone would have done; not that she'd even think of going with some dweeb, but she had some excellent scathing replies.

Fenella stared into the sky, hoping that this gave her a bored look. One that beckoned people to come and socialize. Just for effect, she carefully levitated a small pebble about a foot into the air. She knew that she'd look terrible tomorrow, but hey, why not enjoy being a daughter of Hecate if you had to?

It was weird to think that people were actually at the beach in December. But Camp Half Blood weather isn't always the same as mortal world weather. Arietta was holding her beach towel in her left hand. She walked carefully down into the center of the beach. Not too close to the water, but just enough so that when the wind blows she can smell the salty sea water from her spot.

Arietta put down her towel horizontally. She did not take notice to the girl near her. The daughter of Ares played with the frays of her baby blue sweater. She was not dressed appropriately for the beach. Her long sweater and shorts was not something a lot of girls wear to the beach. Normally, girl would wear nothing but the littlest of bathing suits she has ever seen. She doesn't feel comfortable in that kind of stuff.

It actually was nice out, though Fenella just found it weird that people actually went swimming at this time of year. Of course, she never understood why people swam even in the summer; all that happed was your hair and make-up got messed up. It just was plain stupid.

Fenella got bored of her dramatic upward gaze when she realized that no one could see her perfectly done make-up. What was the use of being pretty when no one noticed?

She looked around for someone to talk to, spotting a girl who was dressed in a sweater with shorts. Her outfit wasn't cuute, and she looked as if she was the sort of girl who didn't care what others thought of her. An unnatural creature, in Fenella's opinion.

Fenella, however, adopted a nicer one of her many smiles. She was going to chat, even if it killed her.

"Hey!" She said brightly, walking the one step that it took to walk over to Ms. Unnatural. She made her voice sound as if she was chatting with a friend, but her tone also could be mistaken for a peppy counselor talking with some loner newbie.

Arietta looked up to see a girl probably her age. There were a few differences between the two girls. One was blonde, the other was a brunette. And obviously the personalities were different. The girl was an Aphrodite kid no doubt. A judgey, stuffy, kid.
She didn't know if she should just ignore the peppy girl or say something. The girl already looked desperate to talk to anyone. Well obviously, if she's talking Arietta. She wasn't the one to talk a lot. But if Ari want to talk, she would.
    "Hi.." She said slowly.

Fenella, for the first time in her life, was beginning to regret trying to "socialize" with this girl. Fenella often didn't seem it, but she wasn't some idiot. She was marking the girl down as a Athena kid, due to her cliche "niceness". Fenella was normally a bit less judging, but since comming to camp she had noticed some patterns. Aphrodite girls were either mean girls or great. Athena girls were either losers or, in the rare case, just boring. They had the classic "I'm nice and I am lonely because I just am ruthlessy bullied by those mean Aphrodite girls."

Prehaps she was being a bit over dramatic. Still, Fenella just couldn't stand the tomboyish type. They were so annoying. What Fenella failed to notice was her lovely smile seemed to be turning into a nastier one. One that made some girls just turn to dust because the popular girl didn't like them. One of those looks that usually set the Aphrodites apart from just the normal, pretty girls.

"Sooooo." She replied, her tone sending an entirely different message than her expression. It was the emphasis on the "o" in so that must have done it. "What's your name?"

"Arietta." She replied. Arietta didn't bother to look at the girl as she was talking. The daughter of Ares stood up slowly, becoming face to face with the other girl. Rietta was not sure what to say to the girl. She was a little shorter than the brunette, maybe by an inch or two. But Arietta was used to be the short one so it didn't bother her.
What bothered Arietta was how the girl came across. She seemed to think that she could get anyone she needed and get anything. The girl probably had twenty boyfriends in line in her cabin, waiting for her to return. Arietta had plenty  of angry siblings in her cabin waiting for the petite girl. Arietta skipped training practice today so they had an uneven amount of people to spar with. She hated sparing.

Fenella automatically got the expression that stated that she honestly didn't like anything that Arietta said; in this case it was her name.

"Oh." She sad, pausing for effect. "That's a nice name." This classic wording really bothered a lot of girls, and they usually just tried ignore it. Weirdly, Fenella actually enjoyed this reaction. She honestly liked it when people tried to ignore her careful insults. It basically said that the person insulted did care, and was desperately trying to appear like they didn't.

Fenella made sure not to say her name, knowing that most people would get curious and ask. It gave her an advantage, and it made people come and "socialize". Next up, a fashion comment.

"You know, after you ask someone for their name, it's social politeness to say your name back."
Arietta was not trying to be rude. But the girl seemed like she needed a wake up call. Ari knew that her name is possibly the weirdest name ever, but you don't have to say it to her. Even if it was discrete. This girl in front of the blonde was here to play. And Arietta will give her one hell of a game. She smiled. But it was a smile that wasn't genuine. She doesn't know if they are destined to be enemies, or best friends. Holy Hera friendship was complicated.

Fenella was annoyed, but she didn't let that show. This response proved the Arietta was not easily broken down, like so many girls at Camp were. Good. She'd finally get a challenge.

"Is it really, sweetie?" She said, her voice dripping with that fake niceness she was now so fond of. "What would you know of social etiquette? I suppose you know that that sweater should not be socially acceptable." Fenella smiled rather sweetly, fuming inwardly. Normally, she didn't need the obvious insults yet.

"Gods of Olympus you are dense. What would my choice of wearing a sweater matter to posh girl like you." Where Arietta was from, posh was an insult. But maybe here it wasn't. She didn't care though, posh is an insult so she'll keep it like that. "If you came to Darlington, the lads would beat you caked up face and then you'd need twice as much clown make-up then you're already wearing. And no, I will not break down to you or any of your insults so go walk away now and spare me the time."
Arietta took a breath, that was a lot of words she spoke. She didn't know what over came her, She guessed she was aggravated that this girl could think she could walk all over Arietta.

Fenella was getting down right angry now, and she was not walking away. "Even with my so caled "clown make-up"". She said, with a good bit of sarcasm. " I look far better than you'll ever. Why don't you go back to this Darlington place? You might have a chance of looking like the pretty one, although that might be a false hope." She said, going back to the fake sweet tone.

"Of course, they might not let you back. Hair like that would make Athena cringe." Fenella added coolly, clearly not worried about the goddess smiting her.

Arietta ignored the girl. She didn't care what the idiot was saying about her. But she was annoyed when she brought up Darlington. Darlington was her home. It was a far better place than here anyway. She wasn't going to let the girl say anything rude. But Arietta didn't want her to win either. "I don't care, posh."

"It makes you wonder. How bad was Darlington, if you would dare she you ugly face here?" She said, hoping that she hit home with the jabs at her beloved Darlington. "Darlington. With a name like that I'd expect the opposite of your type." Fenella added, condescendingly. She was enjoying herself throughly by now, and didn't care is this Athena kid tried to hurt her. Her insults weren't very well done, but that didn't matter in the long run.

Ooc: Wow. I was intending for her just to be annoying, not this cruel. She won't last long if she keeps on acting like this.

"Stop." She said to the first comment. She was annoyed with the posh. She wanted her to just leave Arietta alone. Arietta has a bad temper, being the daughter of Ares. She wished she had a football. She would kick it right in her face, making all of the misshapen teeth fall out of her big mouth. "Stop." She said again, louder. Arietta stood up, trying to push the girl.

Fenella was surprised by the push, which would have sent her flying had she not dodged. Most of the girls she taunted wlnever got physical, and unfortunately for the daughter of Hecate, she was not very strong or powerful. Fenella didn't even have her lovely weapon of choice.

So prehaps it was a bad idead when she didn't obey Arietta's orders. ".Is that really the best you can do? Or was your home truelly awful?" Fenella took a step back.

Arietta wanted to hurt her. She wanted to just pull out her cutlass and just stab her a couple of times. The daughter of Ares was angry now. But she didn't want to get in a fight. She's an odd Ares spawn.
At this point Arietta's better judgment told her to just walk away from this barmy girl. "Bugger off." She told her. Ari had some confidence in her voice as she said this to her.
Now, Arietta was not scared of this girl, nor intimidated. She just wanted this girl to leave her alone. Or at least shut up. Arietta could not take anymore spit thrown at her.
She looked around. The beach was sort of empty. There were a few demigods here a there but they were very spaced out between the two girls.
The brunette in front of her seemed very gobby. Arietta did not like gobby people. That's why she stays away from the Aphrodite and Athena cabins. But it seems like this girl is not either of those goddesses child. Normally, Ari can tell because of the kid's aesthetic. But even the minor goddess kids all look the same. Except for the Khione or Thantatos kids, they are distinguishable.
Then again, Arietta is normally hard to think of her god parent on the first try. It was either her build or her size that threw people off.

Fenella was not about to let this girl scare her off. "Make me." She said, her voice radiating confidence although she was getting a bit nervous. After all, Fenella towered over her by an inch or two.

Prehaps if Fenella ever bothered to listen to her better judgement, her life would have been better. Right now, her better judgement was telling her to run off and quit taunting her, unless she wanted to die young. And unheroically, although some.would consider her death tragic. A lovely girl who's life was cut short. She deserved much more. She thought, beleiving her better judgement enough to know that she was probably doomed. Maybe she could run?

Ooh Arietta just wanted to sucker punch her into the next dimension. But Arietta didn't have the super strength of Ares for her. But she could trick this girl into thinking she did.
Arietta stood straighter, making it seem like the two were the same height. She balled up her fist and took in a breath. "Listen you ponce. I know that behind your ugly face is a cold scared wimp. Now kindly leave my personal space before all of the Ares kids come and pound you to pieces."
    That was a lie.
Most of the Ares kids forget or hate Arietta. Some of them like her, but then in public they would forget about her. She didn't care; they were annoying anyhow.
But one thing Arietta did know was that Ares kids like a good fight. So they probably would be right behind her. Figures.

Fenella was terrified, but she still wouldn't give in. Now this stupid Ares girl was trying to take her advantage, an act she thought should be punishable by death. But she had a weapon, too.

"Well, my siblings could beat yours any day. Hecate actually can think rational thoughts, unlike Ares." She said sweetly, feeling a bit better. Her siblings would never come to her rescue; they just pretty much hated her. But they didn't know that she was a cruel girl. They just thought she was ridiculus, and they all had that pesky "hero" personality. A bunch of muscled freaks attacking one skinny girl was something they wouldn't approve of.

"I don't think you can make me leave."

Arietta glared at the girl. She thought differently about the Ares and Hecate kids. Personally, Arietta grouped the Hecate kids with the Thantatos kids. She found them both mopey and wear black. But as stated, Arietta didn't seem like a kid of Ares either.
Maybe the girl was the freak in her cabin for not being the same
    Or she's a raging b****.
It's probably the second one. Arietta played with the palm of her hand. "Just shut up." She said cooly. "You're annoying."

Fenella smiled, but this time there was no humour in it. It was a cold, calculating expression designed specifically to intimidate. " I notice you didn't say I was wrong." Fenella said, and took a step closer.

Frankly, she was surprised that Arietta was a daughter of Ares. She was built all wrong, and definitely was less impulsive and dull. It was kind of interesting.

"You were a freak back in Darlington, and you are one here." She said, almost triumphantly.

"What the hell? You bring Darlington back into this. That's a horrible insult. But I guess it suits you well."
Ari started to walk towards the water waving back to the girl. "I hope I satisfied you with the chance to improve your self confidence. You'll get so far in life with that." The blonde was 100% done with the girl. Her petty insults were annoying. And her perfume gave her a headache.

Fenella was annoyed that her insults seemed to not bother Arietta anymore, but she still had something left. She was about to levitate a stone when she realized that she could just throw one and pretend that she used her powers.

She knelt done silently, and picked up a stone. Fenella was by no means a good shot, but she didn't care. It really didn't matter if she hit her or not.

The stone was pretty small, but it could really hurt someone provided the theower had enough force. Fenella did not have enough force, and swiftly tossed it towards the water.

Arietta was 'pelted' with a pebble on the back of her leg. It didn't really hurt her; it kind of annoyed her though. Did the girl really just hit her with a pebble? Like really though. Arietta turned around looking at her. She flashed her a smile. Kill her with kindness, Ari. "Thanks." She said sweetly. But like an annoying sweet, like you want to  kill her. She laughed in her head, this could be fun.

The nice response with a considerable lack of sarcasm was quite annoying. He pebble had actaully managed to hit her, but failed to get a decent reaction. "Thanks" was a statement that was extremely hard to work with, and she had really no clue what to do.

And the overly fake sweet tone! That was Fenella's trademark for her insults, and now this obnoxious daughter of Ares was using it. She was using the kindess attack, which meant that Fenella couldn't do the same. Them being nice to eachother would not produce the desired effect.
