Gaurding like a bossess

Lindia laughed a little "yeah, I guess maybe it is" she stood up and stretched her slender legs as the sun began to sip below the horizon.

The setting sun made me realise how late it must have been. My mind skipped to the thought of food. My stomach growled quietly. I still had to do my job so I ignored it and distracted myself.
"It is! Knowing how to do something is pretty cool. I can only fix electronics and plant stuff." I laughed and watched as the sun set off wonderful evening colours.

Lindia nodded and tossed her one of the energy bars she carried while ripping the package off of the other and biting into it. "Eat, you need the energy and our shift doesn't end for a little longer" Lindia told her and checked on her swordzc then her spear to make sure they were ready for combat.

I caught the energy bar and tore the wrapper. I chewed the end off and swallowed. It wasn't much, though it was better than nothing. "Thanks I said to her, before taking another bite.

Lindia nodded and grinned as she finished off her bar and turned off the music on her iPod to conserve the battery as she glanced over at the other girl. "So, how long have you been in the legion?@

"Oh, um a few weeks? maybe months..." I said, unsure. The only sound that could be heard now was the faint noise of moving cars. The traffic had died down slightly. "What about you?"

I showed her the inside of my arm where my typo was, showing seven stripesZ which meant seven years of service. "That long"

"Wow." I said. Personally, I didn't like the thought of getting burned on the arm. And getting every year... I wondered what it felt like after a period of time. "It hurt?" I asked.

Lindia shook her head in silence. It didn't hurt her at all. Her pain before camp far outweighed, and would forever outweigh the pains she experienced inside of the walls of Camp Jupiter. Squeezing her eyes shut, she felt a salty tear slip...only one.

I half nodded. A moment of silence passed and I realized she had just one single tear, rolling down her cheek. Knowing what she was like - even though just meeting her - so I decided to just let the moment pass to think.
I thought about my life before I came here. It was okay. Me and Charlotte lived with my father and his new wife. She hated us and we hated her. It was okay until monsters came. She would yell at us and blame us for endangering her family. Then our dad didn't want us so he sent us to Lupa. At least then we were accepted into a society. A family.
But then there had to be just one more monster left. My father died in a fire. I was terrified of flames, even though I wasn't even there. I wanted to cry but I blinked the tears back in.

Lindia sighed and wiped her face as she glanced over the city skylines of the Bay Area. "So, what cohort are you in?"

By now the sun had nearly set and the sky was gradually getting darker. "Fifth cohort." I said. Nobody liked fifth cohort so my reply was quiet.

Lindia nodded "you guys don't deserve the reputation: well, few of you don't. Most are worthless to the legion"

I bit my tongue. People always said that. All the time, 24/7. It was the downside of my life. I sighed before asking. "What about you?"

Lindia heard the girl sigh and smirked a little, looking out over the darkened cities of the bay, the lights keeping them from vanishing entirely into the valleys and hills of this region of California. "Me?" The child of trivia stated before chuckling and showing her the inscription along her pike: first cohort.

"I'm in the first cohort...though sometimes I think I should be in yours" She chuckled, her Canadian accent slightly entering her sentence towards the end. "I'm not the most respected roman, that's for sure: though I guess the only people that are regarded as perfect would be Jason, Reyna...Octavian by his use of seering and stuff" Lindia mumbled, though she meant fear and dictatorship for Octavian: to which she loathed. She didn't ever admit though, that she was slightly scared by him: and what he would do if he found out about her and Laure....

She shivered at the thought before facing the other, younger girl once again. "So, what do you think of Octavian?"

I was partially shocked at what she had said about Octavian. I don't think anyone has ever said anything nice about him without his presence in the same place.
"Um. I...." I hesitated. I had no idea what to say about Octavian. He was scary, in a .... Octavian way. I decided to say something I knew would be safe.
"He-he is okay. I mean he has a few... things he could, um, change." I answered her. I started to fiddle with my fingers and suddenly was interested in the dirt that had formed in my nails.
I then remember that she was I'm first cohort. My face became a little lighter. "My sisters in first cohort. Her name is Charlotte. Do you know her?" I asked.

"Charlotte? Her name sounds familliar....did she ever date a guy named chance or something?" She asked as she placed her spear back down besides her. "Back to Octavian, I can tell you dislike him, as do I. But you never know who he is close to, who he can make talk" Lindia picked up an apple. "If it was up to me, Octavian would be like this fruit" she paused and tossed the fruit into the air before drawing her crossbow quickly and firing two shots straight through the shiny red apple before smirking. "He deserves to e dead, he's nothing but trouble!"

I tried to think. "I don't think Charlotte did...." I said. "And yes of course he does." I added smirking. I would never be this mean about anyone but Octavian.... sometimes I wished I could just strangle him with flowers...

Lindia laughed a little "I may actually like tou@ she said and removed her helmet, letting her dirty blonde and blue streaked hair fall down her back. "I'm gonna prank him, he is in my cohort after all"

I smiled. "Have you got any ideas for your prank?" I asked her.

Lindia cracked her knuckles. "Maybe I will after I have a frothy drink or two, something in a dark bottle and iced" she grinned before looking at her. "So....you have ideas?"

I looked at her. "No. It doesn't really look like I do dies it?" I pointed out to her.

Lindia laughed and cocked her head to the side. "Looks can be deceiving"

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Do they?" I asked. I never really had an encountered with decieving looks. "I wouldn't know. Never a decieving person." I added.

Lindia smirked "but I am!" She laughed and playe with her hands.
