Character Powers Discussion topic

some characters just don't really have powers, and typically that includes children of athena. it's perfectly fine if your character doesn't have any powers, i think i only have two characters with powers

Powers over Healing, Sun rays(if you can word it right), and then being naturally awesome at Archery

In da book it mentions natural aptitude for pther projectiles too. Slings be ok? Wut bout rhy.e magic as seen by apollo

Can you...use proper grammar?

Other than aiming skills and archery, some Apollo kids are blessed with the power of natural healing. A little explanation: Means, healing without the use of tools or skills.

RP Example : Apollo kid began to heal his wounded comrade by using his natural gift of healing. He lays his palms over the sick bloody gash and concentrated. He willed his hands to work with natural healing. There was a tug in his gutt as Aurora-ish rays of light was projected from his hands, towards the gash. Instantly the blood began to seep back into the wound, which also began to close. Seconds later, there was nothing left of a trace of the sick bloody gash a while ago.

Also man, if you could use your highest quality of grammar, please do use it so.

Bruh, technically it is mostly spelling not grammar. Also, Poetry and other literary arts have been seen to come more naturally to apollo kids. Id there any magical nature to this?

Also trivia and Hecate kids use magic. What type of magic is this. ((Real world example such as Enochian, Hermetic, etc.

Though there are still negations in grammar. You wrote an incomplete sentence bruh. Though also you pointed out mostly are wrongly spelled.

Such as, "Slings be ok?" should better be written as, "Would slings be ok?" or, "Slings would be ok?"

Back to question : Hecate kids do has the gift of magic, they'd be like Illusionist, Magicians, Mostly like wizards and witches using curses and runes. They couldn't do on the spot healings like what gifted Apollo kids could do. Just to clarify, the healing power isn't magic.

On the note of Poetry. Apollo kids can have an ability to use poetry to cause curses on people. But that has to be worded very specifically

I guess you could, as a skill/talent but not as a power yes.

Legacies may have difference, maybe the gift of power got passed on from the ancestors or from the root God/Goddess itself. But mostly the powers would still be connected with Hermes. Thievery, Locksmiths, I really don't know how the messenger does, swiftness maybe?

Also can we have a child of a god that is also a legacy?

Okay, so, can someone please explain to me the difference between a power and an ability? Because for the past hour or so, I have been trying to figure out "Seems like the second power is more of an ability".

Powers are the ability to do something. Wouldn't therefore power and ability be synonymous?

Alright, Power is more like an energy user. Powers should be done with effort and energy.

On the other side, abilities are more like, built in powers, natural powers. They could be turned on automatically, without the "tug in the gut" thingie.

Examples of abilities are, breathing under water, resistance of fire, and more.

Shouldn't, therefore, both abilities and powers be listed in a bio?

Though abilities really aren't that many, they are rarely seen on a demigod. The abilities of a demigod will then be listed with the powers, coz the abilities also counts as powers.

I'd like to ask something regarding to a power I'd like to give on my new character.

So he'll be the son of Eris (You know, Greek goddess of chaos, strife and discord) and I was thinking to have my character affect people (preferably a maximum of five people) to have a conflict with each other/to start a fight between those people. He should've have touched them within 10 minutes to actually affect people. Also, at least 2 people are needed actually have the power in effect.

Is it ok to have that?

How long should he touch the people before the chaos would cause effect?

The last five people/creatures who have been touched would be the only ones affected by the power. The amount of time as to how long he touches the people doesn't matter since as long as he made contact with the person/creature's skin with either one of his had. The effect would last for a maximum of five minutes only. He can activate the power anytime he wishes after touching at least 2 people/creatures. He can only do this twice a week and must at least have a one day interval per use. Also, the power would only take effect once the group of people gets all together in one place.

That seems fine and awesome, but the activation of the power sounds a little bit blurry. Like a button that would set up a bomb is what it is. But setting the activation of the effect by whenever he wanted, which is like by the mind is not gonna happen. He's gonna need more like mental power to reach the victim. Better if he chants like a code or a secret word that the two victims would notice, activating this chaos within their minds.
