Bad girls do it well (private)

the attic has always been nice and quiet, and there aren't a lot of people around to gawk at her, hushed whispers of, 'so that's the daughter of poseidon? why wasn't the prophecy about her? where was she during the war?' it takes all her strength not to reply, 'i was in hawaii, dammit, i didn't know. i was too busy moving from island to island and trying not to literally starve to death.'

she never signed up to be some sort of camp celebrity, and it doesn't help that she's the only one at her table, her half brother off saving the world or whatever it is he's doing, lolita never asked. she doesn't care that she's the only one in the cabin, she doesn't. it's just -  it's weird, alright, because his things are still lying around, and she's a bit too scared to pick them up and move them around, honestly.

lolita sighs and slumps down in the dusty chair she found in a corner, but it's surprisingly comfortable and doesn't seem too close to falling apart. there had been a stool she saw when she first started coming up here that she'd considered using, but then she remembered how the oracle used to sit on a stool up here and promptly forgot about that idea. she's sure it's a lovely stool, no offense intended, but lolita doesn't quite enjoy the idea of sitting on a stool that a decades old mummy was using as a chair, thank you very much. that's just gross.

but then, just as she's getting comfy, lolita hears footsteps, and that's not good, not at all. she's fairly certain she shouldn't be hiding out up here, and she doesn't quite fancy the idea of having to go outside and make awkward, forced conversation with the other campers. she probably won't even be here long. she just - she doesn't want to leave in the middle of winter, that's all, she'd rather not freeze to death on the streets of new york city. that wouldn't be a very dignified way to go.

"oh," lolita says. it is quite clear her plan to blend into the wall did not work.

she leaps to her feet and pretends to inspect some of the objects in there. "hello there! just making sure everything's in order, you know, camp proce - why do you have my face," she says, going for casual and somewhat succeeding until the last bit. it's not her fault the girl's got the exact same face as her.
