There is no louder sound than the crunch of something you're not supposed to be eating.
That was at least what Dayami was thinking as she snuck through the forest with a pack of Oreos. It was way too late to be out, and she knew that the harpies were not very tolerant of campers who broke the curfew. But she had to find Zeus' Fist as fast as possible, if she wanted any chance at finding her right boot again. A Hermes guy had nicked it the day she moved into her brand new cabin, and she had had to tell him twelve of her most appalling puns to coax the location infos out of him.
Okay, she could've waited until morning. But she was also highly impulsive, and navigating a forest full of monsters for the sake of her right shoe seemed like a perfectly reasonable thing to do at 1 am.
So here she was, dressed in her giraffe pajama/onesie, one boot, and one flip flop, with no other weapon than a bronze knife and a few knock-knock jokes. (What? They're hilarious.) She was doing her best to remember the way whilst trying to make the least noise possible, which was not an easy thing to do.
However, something suddenly made her pull into a halt. Dayami raised her head, ears perking up. Someone, somewhere, was humming.
But it was a weird humming. It felt crushing, sad, miserable. Like an ancient lament. Dayami wondered who could be feeling this way so badly, that they were able to make the melody sound so full of sorrow. On a whim, she decided and turned to the right, burrowing deeper into the forest. She stopped a few meters later, stepping out from between a few bushes to find an enormous oak tree.
"Oh hey Jin! Fancy seeing you here! Why are you here? And why are you humming? Do you want an Oreo?"
The son of Oizys was laying on the ground, looking up at the sky. Having heard the song, Dayami was almost not surprised to find him there.
