Mount Olympus

Snow held her hands behind her back and forced her voice to remain indifferent, sometimes she wished for one of the more lighthearted goddesses, but how friendly could the goddess of snow and ice be? "I'm fine. How are you?"

Kendra forced another small smile "I know, it happened recently. My wound just healed from it. A monster attacked our flat when I was visiting, I led it right to her. she was killed in the struggle." She unconsciously crossed her arms over her chest and stroked the long, bumpy scar with her thumb.

ReAnne nodded earnestly "I hope I will, but it doesn't look good with my lack of powers so far. I'm beginning to think that I didn't get any."

"You wouldn't die.... They don't kill anybody in CTF. Anymore, at least." Well, this was slightly awkward.

But the fact she had forgotten his name made me feel uncomfortable. Was his name so easy to forget? Was the name of a person you have loved so easy to forget? I shifted my feet, looking down.

- Where do you think he might be? I've heard of this Lotos casino... Do you think...?

Jana Kay flushed hard under the compliment and bowed a bit. This was the most beautiful compliment she had ever got! she thought.

- Thanks, she whispered. That's very kind of you.

She pushed her braid over her shoulder against her back and looked at her mother. She really loved this woman; she didn't care if she was a goddess or not. She was just the loving mother she had always dreamt of, even if she wasn't always there. But that didn't bother Jana Kay, she perfectly knew gods weren't supposed to spend much time with their children, and on the other hand, they had other things to do. She understood her mother's action perfectly well, and she was glad for the attention she had from her. It was just what she had asked for, and every time she made offerings for Demeter, she did it with great love.
She looked up shyly at her mother.

- Mom..., she shyly started, may I hug you?

Hecate snapped her fingers suddenly, remembering Morgan's father's name. "Your father's name -- it was Widukind. He might be at the Lotus Casino, but I wouldn't count on it; IMs work there, but the people inside don't notice. After all, it's a distracting place...."

Demeter delicately stoked the petals of the flower, and then it disappeared from her hand -- to appear on her dresser in her house on Olympus. "You're welcome, dear... But I should be thanking you, shouldn't I? For invoking old memories that I never recalled.... If you want something for Christmas, dear, you're welcome to ask me for it. Near Christmas time, though, so I can remember it easier.... But yes, you may hug me."

"ok." i took in a deep breath. stretch both my hands to the ground behind her. a pomegranate tree starts to grow. after it finished growing i say in a gentle commanding voice. " spring up!" the pomegranate tree starts to move. its roots pop out of the ground. it moves toward me. it start to bow but when it sees my mom it turns sharply and bow.

Hecate blinked, then gave a slight laugh. "Of course, Evon. Why wouldn't I?"

Demeter turned her head to see the pomegranate tree bowing to her, then she looked back at Derick and smiled. "That's very good, Derick."

Chione nodded at her, glancing at her watch. "I'm fine also. Global warming isn't fun to deal with, but I manage. How's camp been to you?"

"Tough. Some of the campers enjoy getting me mad so that the room snows. But I manage, like you. Do you have somewhere to be?" Snow answered her.

Sekhmet snorted, waving her hand. "I'm sort of like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Have you heard of that man? Same person, different personalities."

"Oh... uhm. Thank you, I think." Apollo rubbed the back of his neck, not sure what to say.

"Do I ever? Hm. Sometimes I do... but these take time to, ah, ferment. I need to check on them regularly so they don't clump up and ruin themselves." Hecate waved her hand, making the vials disappear.

Widukind? That was a really odd name, I thought. It was the name of.... this Saxon leader, if I recalled well, a famous one. Perhaps I was related to that guy in some way, but I highly doubted that. It was not because it was my father's name that it meant I was kind of his great great great great (...) great great grand daughter.

A propos ancestor....

(I paused, looked down at my feet, then back into her power-radiating eyes) How come I identify myself so much to Sparta? How come my weapons, my fighting style and my values are spartan? How come.... how come my sword carries the name of Leonidas's sword?

Jana was surprised as the majestic lily disappeared, but she guessed it was perhaps in Demeter's personal garden now, or in one of her temples. She felt honored the flower was there, really.

And then Demeter gave her the permission to hug her. Jana's legs went numb with happiness. Like in a dream, she walked over to the goddess and wrapped awkwardly her arms around her shoulders. She hugged her tightly, breathing the fragrance of her hair.
Demeter was smelling of fresh fruits and fields. Jana Kay knew that fragrance because it was the one of her childhood. It was a complicated mixture of earth, grass, corn and wind; it made her feel just good and comfortable, like she was home after a long and exhausting trip.

"Sparta, huh? I'm not too sure about that, considering that I don't know every detail of how you were raised. Perhaps you were descended from a Spartan family or such.... But names, they usually mean little. Just because your sword shares the same name as Leonidas's sword does not mean -- may not mean -- that the two are in any way connected. It may mean your sword was named after his, or that the maker of the sword picked something random. I don't know." Hecate shrugged; she wasn't too concerned about this.

Demeter hugged Jana back, sighing contentedly. How long had it been since she hugged som-- oh, wait. She hugged Persephone yesterday. Rephrase: How long had it been since she had hugged one of her non-godly children? "You just let me know what you want, okay? If I can, I'll get it for you. If not, try to have a backup idea in mind."
