The Library

"I have no clue what you just said, but that was the cutest accent ever," Dawn said, covering her mouth and giggling. She never giggled. At all. She looked back at Chay to see if she was paying attention to their conversation.

Achaylia was busy rolling her eyes at Oblivious but she did glance at Dawn every now and then.

Vlad grinned. "Thanks. Yours is pretty sweet too," he told her and picked out a book. he looked at the summary quickly before putting it back in its right place. "Sometimes, its hard to find decent books."

Dawn totally forgot that she even had a small British accent. "Thanks." She slightly blushed at his compliment. "Not for me, I'll read anything. Even if it got terrible reviews," She said. "What book was that, anyways?"

"The Medusa Project," he said. "I've read it before. It's about four kids who find out they have psychic abilities like telekinesis, telepathy, the ability to shield one's self from harm and the ability to see into the future. It's pretty good. It's all sciencey."

"And there's another one to add to my reading list. I have about ten books on it at the moment. I haven't got any time to read during my shifts these days. Many people are coming lately. Usually there's zero to two people in here. Now there is like, twenty," Dawn said.

"That's too bad," Vlad said sympathetically. He grew a smile. "But there might be a solution. Audio books. Not as good as having it in front of you but its still good."

He looked at another book. He read the title allowed. "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. Long title... Looks good."

"But we don't allow electronics at camp..." Dawn said. She was also a rule-abider. She didn't like to break rules at all. She even just told Achaylia that she was a goody-goody.

"Hm... I think I knocked that off the shelf once while putting books away. I would've read it, but it was almost the end of my shift and bedtime."

"Hephaestus cabin," Vlad reminded her. "They can make anything. It doesn't even need to be electronic."

He grinned. He looked over to Dawn. "Are you alright, by the way?"

"Yeah, true, I have a friend who got a waist pack from a Hephaestus child. It has a bunch of features, but he never uses them," Dawn said.

"What do you mean? I'm perfectly fine," She replied.

Vlad laughed. "I was just wondering. I noticed you looked over to the librarian's desk earlier."

Achaylia, on the other hand, was grinding her teeth. At which point, she exploded. "YES! I am annoyed with you. You miss shifts. We have to cover for you. Frankly, I am really surprised neither Dawn nor I have reported you to my father or Chiron."

"Yeah, I was fine. I was just looking over at Achaylia to see how she was doing," Fellow librarians, y'know. Dawn thought, but she didn't say it.

"That's an interesting name. Turkish descent, I believe?" he asked. He looked her way. "She seems rather angry at that guy. What did he do? Smear jam over the books?"

Dawn giggled. Again, apparently. "No, he's a fellow librarian. He's just missed his shifts, and we've had to cover his shifts for him," She said, "and I think she still likes him," Dawn whispered.

"Looks like it," Vlad agreed. "Should we be worried? She looks like she's about to rip off his head."

"Oh dear," Dawn turned around. "It does, but Chay is a nice person. She wouldn't do that, even to him."

Achaylia's eye twitched. "WEEKS!" she practically shrieked and threw her hands in the air. "Ugh. I'll give you props. That is a creative excuse. Keep it up, Oblivious, and I'll report you to Chiron."

Vlad raised an eyebrow. "She acts like she's in charge..."

"She usually is. I've seen her berate a ten year old for bringing water and food into the library. Very stupid thing to do, really. I mean, who brings chicken and soda into a place with a bunch of old, tattered books? It's not like we get any new ones..." Dawn actually wished they got some new books. She had already read about half of the fiction section. That was about a fourth of the library.

"You sound like a pansy!" she growled. He was not on her good side. Her hands were on her hips. Achaylia's flute sheath bumped her leg as she shifted weight to her other foot and she leaned forward a little. "For the gods sakes, Oblivious! You better do as you said you will or you'll find yourself with a trainee to watch over you. I can find one very easily just by walking into the Athena cabin, remember."

Vlad wasactually facing the pair, standing beside Dawn. "I actually would help if offered..." he murmured.

"Don't worry. It's going to die off in a bit. Trust me. I've been there a bunch of times," But maybe this could be different... Dawn thought.

"Are you just going to stand there?" Achaylia asked, exasperated. "Gah! I don't know why we keep you on, Zeanorblivious!"

Vlad raised his eyebrows. "Wow. Full name?"
