Wandering the beach, all alone(Not)

Matt walked along the beach, mentally hitting his head against the wall. He had not gotten a chance to talk to Molly, and when he was divided on wanting to be friends with her again and not speaking to her ever again.

Part of him knew that he had overreacted by a lot, but most of him blamed Molly and the kid! Some stupid son of Ares! He was disgusted with them all. Everyone, to he exact. What the heck, he was disgusted with the world.

Charlotte walked out on the beach, she layed down her green towel and sat down. "Ahh the air feels great." Charlotte wasn't going to get in the water she was still somewhat scared of it since her last incident. She took out her book and began to read.

Matt, while dwelling on these thoughts, had ambled close to the waterline. He was almost in the cold waters, to be exact. So it was rather obvious that the fates would conspire, and he tripped over a good sized rock. And fell with a very nice splash in the water.

Charlotte perked up as she heard a splash. She saw a boy in the water and got up. Charlotte quickly rushed to the boys side still trying not to touch the water. "You okay?"

Matt looked up at the tall girl now standing over him. He was suddenly aware that he looked ridiculus, although he didn't know why he had thhis new awareness.

"Yes." He said, his voice sounding a bit harsher than intended. Prehaps it was the embarassment of being covered with sand and seaweed?

Charlotte ran and grabbed her towel shaking it out before handing it to him. "Here..." She picked some seaweed off of his shoulder and giggled. "That was graceful." Charlotte smiled.

Matt accepted the towel, noting that it was a rather nice green color. He didn't say a word, except for the breif thanks as he stood up. The mystery girl was a good four inches taller than him, which wasn't unusual. Matt was not tall by any standards, and at age 15 he was done growing.

He smiled slightly, looking rather funny with the towel around him and his hair was sandy and sticking up weirdly now. At least the seaweed was gone.

"I'm Charlotte by the way... Daughter of bast." Charlotte flashed a kind smile at him. "What's your name?"

Matt was thinking of making and attempt for fixing his hair, but decided against. It would look entirely stupid no matter what he did, so he might as well just let it be.

"Matthew, son of Demeter." He said, feeling rather stupid. The alert part of his brain was screaming that he was acting stupid. Memories came up of way last year, by the lake. Some girl with red hair was there... Lana, or something like that.

"So whatcha doin out here?" Charlotte smiled and sat down on the sand a bit of ways from the water.

Matt hestitated slightly. He really didn't have a reason that he was even down here, so he made one up.

"I was taking a stroll to enjoy the.natural beauty of the beach." He said, although the truth was prehaps a bit bent at this point.

Charlotte nodded. "Cool." She took a deep breath of the air and smiled.

Matt nodded and stared in the opposite direction, not bothering to break the awkward silence that had come up. I wonder if there's a god of awkward silences? Maybe that's who Bastet is.

"Sooo..." Charlotte laughed. "Sorry sometimes i zone out."

Matt smiled, this time a real one. He often zoned out, and that was something that he thought that most people did.

"So what?" He asked, surprised to find himself genuinely interested.

"Sooo you wanna do something?" Charlotte laughed. "I've been pretty bored at camp lately but, you interest me."

That took Matt by surprise. He had always thought himself as interesting, but it was still weird to hear someone say so.

"Sure." He said, hoping his voice was sounding calm and cool. What it actually sounded like would give the impression that he was surprised that she was still standing near him and didn't want that to change.

"Hmmm..." Charlotte looked around and stood up. "What could we do?"

Matt figured that the question was rhetoric, and didn't say a word just in case his voice was not sounding normal. Hefollowed her gaze, which led down the beach towards the rocks.

"Wanna walk? You can tell me more about yourself but, try not to trip again." Charlotte giggled and looked at him for an answer.

He wasn't sure whether to say 'okay' or sure. What he ended up saying was something that mixed the two words, ending with the result of 'shokay'. Yep, Matt was real smooth. At the moment, he didn't care. Or at least that's what he told himself.

Charlotte giggled and grabbed her bag. "Let's go then." She walked on twoards the hidden caves on the beach.

Matt walked after her, hurrying a bit to catch up and then slowing his pave to match hers. He was kind of worried about what she'd think of him, once she found out he'd practically disowned his sister after she got a boyfriend.

Funny. When he put it that way, he sounded like a world class jerk. And Charlotte would definitely take Molly's side, being a girl. That's what most people did, at any rate.

He had picked up some friends, but they were more like minions. Tough, bulky kids that didn't say much and did what he told them to do. He wasn't actually sorry about that, but she would care. Oh well. Not like she'd ever know any of this. He was an actor in his own life.

"So you got any powers?" Charlotte looked over at him with her deep green eyes.

He shrugged, thankful that it was just the classic power question. He had not a single power that he knew about, but he mostly gave the answer of probably.

"Probably." He said. Matt would have been pleased to know that he had finally achieved the normal voice.
