I look around. I know the amount of water the squid displaces, and it definantly isn't as much water as the squid displaces. I notice what looks like a sea serpent about 50 feet long off in the distance. It swims by. I notice something about it though. 'Oh, it's just an oarfish. Peaceful things, really.' I surface.

I shrug. "I was just underwater checking to see if it was safe. Seeing last time I was swimming my and my friends were attacked by a squid. All there are here are oarfish. Though, I thought oarfish were oceanic."

"Right......forgot, thought we were in the lake," I laugh. "Anyway, oarfish are massive, long, thin fish, normally beige or blue, with long red crests that run through their bodies. They get up to 56 feet long, but are quite peaceful. Seeing as some monsters came from human imagination and thus were born, oarfish made people think there were sea serpents that destroyed ships and fought krakens, and thus, the sea serpent monster was born."

I shake my head. "Only if you and thousands of others thought there really was a dragon like that. Thousands, maybe millions, thought oarheads were sea serpents and believed their mind with every fiber of their being. So, one person just thinking a monster, knowing it ain't real, can't make a monster like that."
