The rocks groaned and split open. It sounded like they were in pain or something. Theo smirked. "I think they were scared to make you sing anymore," he teased. "C'mon," he said, taking her hand and leading the way down into the black hole that gaped before them. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." Dang, it was really dark down here. All wet and it echoed with every step he took. At least the mortals couldn't follow them down.

(sin) I take hold of his hand, and follow him down into the deep, dark, cold depths of the void.

Theo walked into Central Park. It'd only just crossed his mind, but he needed to make a call. It had totally slipped his mind before now, but he needed to talk to Max. He owed it to tell him that Alex was alive again, well Sinder was anyway. Gesturing to her that he was going to take a moment, he slipped inside an old fashioned looking telephone booth to make a call. He still remembered Max's number, which was kinda strange since he didn't remember that kind of stuff real well. Whatever the case, he turned the dial to the numbers he remembered and waited while it rang on the other end.

Sinder waits for Theo as he make his call. "Anytime now." She mumbles to herself. As she is waiting, she look around her. It was a nice day outside. Sunny and warm. Just how she liked it. "Who are you calling?" She asks Theo.

"You're ex-dad," Theo said. Come on, Max. Pick up the phone, he thought. It was a hot day and he didn't want to be in here any longer than he had to.

"Oh." Sinder says, her smile turning into a small frown. What did she do now?

Max picks up the phone. "Hello?"

"Max," Theo said, relieved. "It's me, Theo. Alex's came back... least ways, her name's Sinder and she's had her memory wiped, but we're both certain she was Alex." He waited anxiously for his response.

If only Theo could see Max's smile. "That is great! Oh, by the way. I got a call from a man claiming to be your Uncle Dave. He told me that if I can get in contact with you to tell you that your mother is still alive!"

Theo drew in a sharp breath, barely managing not to swear. Uncle Dave? Last he'd heard of his uncle, he'd been living in Europe. "Right," he said, mouth dry. Dave and his mother had never been very close, but it intrigued Theo. How had Dave managed to find her? "So, what'd he sound like? Dave, I mean." His uncle was short, but a very a thin man with a high, reedy voice. He cut an unimpressive figure as he was mostly bald with tufts of graying hair on his head and rather large glasses. He'd never seen him out of a suit and he was usually puffing on a cigar. And why would he give a damn about him anyway... and why now of all times? If he'd wanted to, he could have strung the events together, but he was too shocked to think clearly now. He shot a quick glance at Sinder before turning his attention back to Max's voice on the other end.

"Well, he had a high pitched voice over the phone." Max tells Theo. "He said she got married, but then divorced again."

Sinder watches Theo. Who was Dave? "Who is that?" She asks him.

Theo gestured for her to wait a moment. His heart was beating fast and he had no idea what to expect. His mom left him to go marry some jerk who divorced her in the end? What the hell? From what he could figure, that was totally messed up. He didn't think he'd been that much of a burden on her... but he must have been if she'd been fine with leaving and not looking back. Had the monster attacks really been that hard on her? For the love of the gods, he'd only been eight! "Did he say where they were now?" he asked quickly, almost eagerly. He wanted answers... but he also wanted to know the person who'd left him to die.

Toronto, eh? He used to live in Toronto. Maybe they weren't all that far away from their old place. "Thanks," he said to Max, suddenly realizing that he was gripping the phone in a death grip. He forced himself to relax. "Thanks," he said again, mind numb from the shock. He glanced again at Sinder. "Want to talk to your former dad?" he asked her, raising an eyebrow at her questioningly.

"No." Sinder tells Theo with a sad expression. Max wasn't her dad anymore. She wasn't even related to him anymore. He might as well be a stranger.

Theo shrugged. "As you wish. He turned his attention back to Max. "Well, Sin says good-bye and I'll call you later if anything important happens." He hung up before Max could respond and looked at Sinder. He still looked slightly surprised.

"Where do you have to go? Because I want to go too!" Sinder exclaims. It was much too boring for her at camp, let alone with Theo. How boring would it be without him? No, he would let her go.

"Canada," Theo said, looking around anxiously. "Look, how much do you remember of your past?" He remembered telling Alex about what had happened with him mom, but would Sinder remember? Probably not, but he needed to ask.

"What happened?" Sinder asks Theo, getting angry since he was stalling. He always did this to her, just because he thought she looked cute. How come she put up with him? What attracted her to him?

He shook his head. "Last time you went with me anywhere like this, you ended up dead. I'm not going to take that risk again." He didn't want this to end up like the last time. He just... if she died, it'd be his fault. She'd come to close already.
