Mount Olympus

"Oh, all right." Zack nodded. Perhaps he would go in for a quest soon, then...

He looked around the place. He didn't have anything left to do... he met his dad, met some other deities... so that was it.

"Well, dad, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you. I can't wait to see you again in December. Let me leave you a saying that has helped me when I become too stubborn -- 'Never let your persistence and passion turn into stubbornness and ignorance.' It helps because you realize that sometimes being determined can be a good thing at times, it's usually not, and will most likely make you fail." Zack said, hugging his dad once more.

"See you in another six months. I love you," He waved, leaving Olympus.

Zeus waved goodbye as Zachary left, then turned to Morgan after checking his watch. "Well, I must be off now, Ms. Morgan. I'll see you soon, perhaps at the next solstice with Zachary?" He checked his watch again; he was late for dinner with Hera. He waved goodbye at her and hurried off, not wanting to be late again for dinner.

"Wait... Isn't Aphrodite a Goddess, too?"

Enough with the self-esteem booster talk. "Uhh... OK! Soo... What do YOU wanna talk about... You know, before I have to leave..."

"'course she is." Phobos glanced nervously over his shoulder. "But she -- she has looks that transform to suit other people's preferences. She doesn't try, you know? She doesn't need to tan for somebody who likes tans -- she appears to them as tan."

Nike shrugged at Jack. "I really have nothing to talk about; we've swept through the standard questions."

I sigh. "Yeah. Alright."

"So... Are you seeing her looking like Megan Fox? Because that's what i'm seeing."

Dolos scratched his chin. "Inflatable? It'd probably look fake, Pierre. Unless you got some sort of magical spell to make it look like you."

"Exactly." Hermes nodded, looking through his bags. "We're trying to make it equal in terms of economy up here."

Hephaestus scratched his chin, leaning back in his wheelchair. "Have any other new inventions you've made?"

"Me? Oh, no... Somebody else." Phobos wouldn't tell AJ of all people -- that would be slightly awkward.

"Goodbye then, Jack. It was nice seeing you." Nike sat back down in her chair.

I shake my head. "Well..I don't know. I was planning on realistic but able to fit in the watch and only come out when needed."

"So you aren't the hated tax collector because there are none."

I sigh. This was what I was dreading. "Well....aside from your teleporter, which I'm still working on...no. I've been focused quite a lot on large works, and thus haven't made much."

"Maybe a Hecate kid could help you with that," Dolos muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose. He looked at Pierre suddenly, like he was reminded of something. "Or, instead of making it yourself, you could ask for it for Christmas."

"Well, there are taxes on certain things, like ambrosia and nectar. But otherwise, no, there's no taxes." Hermes scratched his chin, closing his bag.

"Well, if you're working on something, then that's fine." Hephaestus chuckled to himself, shifting his leg in the metal brace. "As long as you aren't being lazy and doing nothing."

"I don't want to have to make you work more. I already probably asked for too much with the watch during last Christmas."

"So is there anything you have to pay for? Living residence?"

"I couldn't be lazy if my life depended on it," I say, slightly laughing at myself.

I walk back to the throne room. "I am back father."

I didn't say it, but I was trying desperately to find out who he- Nope, no I wasn't. I wouldn't say, though. That would be slightly awkward. "So... Anything else you wanna talk about?"

"Ok, bye mom! Love you!" I sped out, back to Camp Half-Blood.

"No daddy" angela said

Hermes thought for a moment, stroking his chin. "Living residence, nah. The population on Olympus doesn't increase at all, anyway. Food, sometimes, but it depends on what we can't zap onto the table."

Hephaestus laughed a bit himself, rubbing his misshapen forehead. "Being lazy doesn't help in the demigod world, so you needn't worry about that."

"Welcome back then, Gru." Ares was cleaning his nails with a pocket knife.

"I thought it helped Hypnos kids."

Dolos looked at Pierre, then nodded. "Well, anything else you want to talk about?"

"Anything that's not from Greece or authentically Greek," Hermes replied, sighing sadly. "Means we actually have to go down and buy Chinese food and stuff."

"Doesn't help," Hephaestus responded gruffly, clearing his throat. "They just sleep, it doesn't do anything for 'em. When they wake up they want to sleep more."

"Oh, sure. If you're careful." Ares shrugged; he preferred this to Aphrodite doing his nails.

Uh.....that's not the most normal thing you hear. "Do they even know you're gods, or is it like, oh hey, swarm of people getting orange chicken?"

"Kind of all they do, so I guess it's their role."

"How can be careful with blade and fingernails?"

"Well, bye then, Pierre." Dolos yawned, checking the clock above Zeus's throne. Almost 7 pm.

"Well, if us gods get the craving for the same thing, we tend to go to different places all around the country. Not just cluster in one place." Hermes fiddled with a zipper on his bag.

"Well, I suppose so... but they'd be a lot more useful if they got up more often." Hephaestus nodded to himself, stroking his beard like an emperor from a Chinese soap opera.

"You go slowly," Ares explained, holding up the knife and pointing to it.

I nod and wave goodbye as I head down the elevator.

"But....ah, never mind. I think I'll see you next solstice to talk about this more. Bye dad." I hold out my hand for a handshake.

"Never said I thought it was the best thing."

"Uh....well, goodbye father, I guess."
