Re: Eternally Tainted (Update 1-11-11)
Okay, so I know I did this backwards, but still. This is the prologue that I never wrote xPPP
The couple strolled aimlessly in the dreary color of night. The girl, who couldn’t be much older than twenty, was pregnant and ready. The boy, not much older, was smiling brightly, clutching the girls hand. This couple is running in fear, though you would never know it from their loving looks. Lightning strikes the sky and the screaming sound of thunder is heard. With a panicked look, the couple rushes away as fast as they could.
They know they have to run, because if they don’t…if they’re caught, they will be punished. What they have done is against the law. Against the rules, but they don’t care. They don’t understand. They don’t see what’s so wrong if they love each other. Now, each one has loved many, but never so strongly. They shouldn’t have anything to do with each other. They should have never met in person.
Days later, in the shelter of a hospital, the mother gives birth to a beautiful baby girl. The father, in a desperate attempt to save them all, takes the child away, leaving the mother sobbing. The hospital assistants have no clue why she’s crying. They have the papers, the papers that turn the child over to the father. They don’t know the papers are forged, but the mother does. She knows she can't find them now. She knows she can't help protect them. She knows if they're found, they're going to be put to torture. She sob’s from the loss of her love. She sobs form the loss of her daughter. Her daughter named Emma.

Chapter 1
- Spoiler:
"My motto? You really want to know? Its, boys are like flies, squish them, they're just pests." I tell my therapist. Therapy, why would I be here? I'm normal! I mean sure, I'm kinda a daughter of a god....and goddess but still! Father had no right! Just because I told him mother was Aphrodite he thinks I'm insane! How could he, the self-righteous cruel piece of-
"Now, Emma, can you tell me why your here?" She asks, interrupting my thoughts. I stare her down, she's scared of me. I can tell it. Why this...this PERSON thinks I need help I have no clue, maybe she's just in it for the money. That’s it, all of them, self-centered snobs that can't live without money this money that. I can imagine it now, the therapist standing alone, screaming at the top of her lungs, 'MONEY! I CANT LIVE WITHOUT THE MILLIONS I MAKE!!!!!!!!'
I laugh slightly to myself, "You’re so stupid...just a Kleenex to the world, do you not understand that!?" I ask her harshly, "Why won’t you get it? Nothing’s wrong with me! I don’t need to be here!"
"Emma, now you can tell me why your here please, I know I've asked you many times but you refuse to-"
"Why I'm here? Because my father thinks I'm mental and likes to waste his money on useless, idiotic, and not to mention stupid therapy." I say to her matter-of-factly.
"Well then, I guess we're done here, get out, get out now." She says as her son walks in. Erin Bran, hottest boy at my school, and my former boyfriend. He stops short when he sees me. I stand and smile at him. I walk out dutifully, past him, and out the door. As I leave I can hear him yelling at him mother, wondering why I was here.....then it hits me....her names not Bran.....he's a patient. I smirk to myself on my way home. Must be my doing.
Let me give you a little history on me shall I? My name is Emma....I have NO last name. My father says my mother has been dead for fourteen years. He claims she died during child-birth, but I'm not stupid, she's alive and well, and her name's Aphrodite. Yes, THAT Aphrodite, Greek god of love and beauty. Here's the other thing, my father? Well...he doesn't permit me to tell, but seeing as I'm supposed to tell everything, he's Sekhamet, Egyptian god of destruction. How does that work!? They don't exist! Right, sure, you can believe that if you like, but I'm here to tell you, the gods are real, all of them....and Greek and Egyptian just happened to collide to make me. Wait, so you ask, why am I mortal? I'm not, it’s that simple. I'm immortal, just like mother and father. This...this place, wants to train me, but I don’t want to be trained, and they know it. I'm a goddess for the sake of all that is immortal!
Do this, do that! Blah-ditty-blah. They can't teach me what I need to know. Now, back to the story? Where was I? Oh yes, I was telling you about what happened when I got home I believe! I walked into the living room, "Father! I'm-" I get cut off by the sounds of arguing. I creep around to the door and listen.
"Sekhamet you can't keep her from me! She is just as much mine as she is yours. Don't you understand? She's just as greek as she is Egyptian!"
"APHRODITE! You must listen! She will be home soon, she can't hear you!"
"GOOD! The sooner she gets here the sooner she finds out!" Aphrodite,...mother, screams at him. I take a step into the doorway. Their fighting immediately stops and she rushes to me, enveloping me in her arms.
"Emma, Emma dear, I've been waiting so long to finally meet you...how are you? Are you okay? What has he done to you!?" She demands in a booming, loud and in control voice.
"He's done nothing. I'm fine, your my mother...Aphrodite...let me go." I say to her harshly. Yeah sure, she's my mother but, I haven't seen her since I was...I have not a clue! She expects me to HUG her? No, not even close. Actually, if I had known then that I have powers, how powerful I am, I would have blasted her away right then and there, sent her away from me.
She drops her arms quickly and backs away, "Emma, your tall darling. Very tall…Sekhamet where does she get that?"
"Aphrodite, mother dear, I'm an immortal like you, and HIM." I say, pointing towards father, "I can do just what you can, even more...possibly." I don’t know it, but I'm more powerful than one would imagine.
"We're taking her to Olympus Sekhamet. We must raise her there, we MUST! If we do not...well...Zeus shall explain..." She grabs my hand lightly, "Now, if you'd follow my lead Sekhamet."
Those are the last words I remember hearing before falling thirty feet into hard ground. Semi-conscious, I can hear people moving around me though. Before completely passing out all I hear is, "Who is this?"
~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey I think she's starting to wake up!" I hear a shout coming from somewhere as I start to regain consciousness. Slowly, I open my eyes to see a man that must be in his mid thirties or forties standing over me, shoo-ing away the shouting child. I blink my eyes multiple times. Who are these people? This doesn't look like Olympus to me...maybe she sent me to the wrong place? That...that woman is infuriating me almost as much as father is.
"Leave leave, give her room. We need to find who she is before you start with questioning her!" The middle-aged man says. I sit up slowly on my elbows, watching. I see faces gazing at me in amazement. I growl at them, sending them fleeing.
"Who are you!? I know that some half-bloods can travel through shadows but that was in broad day light! One of our satyr's have proved you’re not half anything." He says to me quietly in a harsh voice. I can hear some of the people outside the....cabin? Are they listening in? Who cares...they'll get what they need...they will.
"I am Emma...I shouldn't talk to you, I don’t know you. For all I know you’re a creep that is hiding children from their parents. Now tell me, what is a half-blood????" I demand from him. Venom fills my voice as I start to feel true hatred for the ground on which I fell. I rub my head, feeling...bandages?
"Well, seeing as you have already disrupted our short time here, you must know. A half-blood is a child of a god." He states matter-of-factly. A grin plays on my face, maybe I AM in the right place.
"Really now?! That’s me, completely." I tell him, "You can check it! I'm not lying either so don't you go thinking I'm mental!" I threaten him. If this...this man is humoring me in any way I will hurt him. That’s when I finally notice how much he towers over me...is he, no, he’s not riding a horse. He IS a horse.
"Holy failure..." I mumble to myself quietly.
"Do you know who your parent is?" He asks in a non-believing voice. I almost laugh, horse man doesn't believe the normalish child! How is that for ironic? Right out of therapy and into twenty-questions. I sigh loudly and lie back slightly and look at up at him.
"That’s not for me to tell. If I tell, I get in trouble. You don't want that to happen, so trust me, and believe me." I snap at him harshly.
"For the time I have to believe you. I want you to go and explore when you get done here. Hurry up." I close my eyes as he's talking. I hear his hooves clicking on the wooden floor as he exits the cabin. I open my eyes and look around. This must be an infirmary. There are gauzes and medicines and bandages everywhere. Yes, an infirmary. I stand up shakily and rip the bandages from my head. Finding nothing wrong, not even a scratch, I throw them away. I shuffle towards the door. Walking out it I emerge into blinding sun light. Covering my eyes with my hand I start to explore the camp like place. I smile slightly; knowing, deep down, that I would be the one to destroy it. It was basic in the place, tents scattered everywhere you looked. Children all the way from the age of seven to possibly eighteen. From my view point I can see what might be chariots and stable. I gasp slightly. It’s absolutely gorgeous.
Children are chasing each other with swords and other weapons as I walk through the strange wilderness. From one group of tents guys swivel their heads as I walk by, amused by the new child who should still be in the infirmary. The girls I pass wave friendlily, but I can feel them staring at me.
"It’s not polite to stare!" I call back to them. I can hear them running away quickly each time. I smirk to myself, why are they even caring? I'm just like them, immortal and all. I hear a large, loud booming voice saying to report to the mess hall. Not knowing the way, follow the crowd to a large, very large wooden cabin filled with benches. This must be where you eat. Grabbing me roughly from the back of the crowd is a strong hand. The hand is attached to an arm, which is attached to a man that must be in his mid-twenties. No wait, the aura coming from him was something else, the same aura that I had felt from my father and mother. He was a god. The strange man leads me up to a stage at the front of the cabin and stood me beside the horse man. What is he again? I think I learned this in school. A centaur or something? I think that’s it, I might be wrong, but if I'm right, I'm right. The god man goes up the center of the stage.
"Settle down! I SAID SETTLE DOWN! Thank you, now, as you know, this is the kick off for yet another...very...fun year at Olympus. For any of you that came during winter I would like to finally get to welcome you properly. For those of you who have questions, we DO run a year round retreat for our children, as long as just during summer months. I feel that you will all love it here. Do I have any questions before I turn your attention over to your leader, counselor, and teacher, the great-great-grandson of the legendary Chiron, Erich ?"
About thirty hands shoot quickly to the air. With a smile he looks at the younger children, which must be new. As if reading their minds he smiles brighter. The man has a nice smile; it soothes the restless children it seems.
"My name is Zeus young ones." He whispers quietly. The young children gaze up at him respectfully. Zeus! That is what my mother had said! Zeus would explain everything...maybe he could explain to me? As more children spot me, more hands go up. He tells them to group themselves by what their question is. In less than five minutes there are two groups in the mess hall. The group with a question, I'm guessing they want to know the same thing, and the group without the question.
"Lord Zeus, we have done as you asked, but it seems that we all have the same question...only we have different forms." Zeus waits for the question as their leader, I suppose, waits for response. Seeing none he continues, "We all want to know who she is." He says, pointing to me, "She fell thirty feet from mid-air in the middle of the forest grounds last week. She shouldn't be out of the infirmary with the damage it did to her head. No mortal would have survived that and a half-blood only, barely."
"I want to know why you all call yourself half-bloods!" I snap before Zeus can answer, "I understand the 'born of the gods' part but not the 'half' part." Stepping up beside Zeus I stare them all down, one by one, "Now, my name is Emma, supposedly I'm like you, tell me please, why do you associate yourselves with the word 'half'?"
With much discussion and 'you tell her'/'no you tell her's a little boy in the group with not questions stands up and pulls himself onto the stage. He looks up at me with big brown eyes, the kind you can't resist. My face softens from hate to...tolerance.
"W-we are half because only our mommy or daddy is a god. We aren't fully immortal, we is actual mortal..." He whispers then quickly jumps from the stage, as if frightened by my very presence. With wide eyes I look around at all of them. Each and every one of them is only half-god. I'm alone in this, this, this city. I look to Zeus as he gazes at me, wondering why I’m panicking. Surely he knows, surely mother and father told him by now! He looks away and to horse man, who I know now is named Erich. Shaking his head, he looks back to the frightened faces of the half-gods then disappears. I feel I've done something wrong, something very wrong, but for now, I have not a clue.
As the children start to get over the shock of what they just saw, they start to eat. Erich grabs me by the shoulder and leads me away from everyone else. He looks at me, almost fearfully, dropping my arm quickly.
''What are you?!" He demands, a look of pure terror and reconization in his eyes. I can feel the eyes of the other others on me as they leave. I am actually unaware at how much time has passed since he asked me the question. Staring up at him with a fearful look, I start to quiver.
''I...I...I'm not like them..." I whisper. From the beginning I thought I had found a place, but I haven't. He stares down at me, having known this all along. I have a horrible feeling that Zeus knew about me, but didn't know who I was. He nods understandingly and sends me out with the rest of the children. Following the stragglers out a side door, I find myself in front of one of the most amazingly beautiful lakes I have ever seen, or maybe it’s a river? I can't tell. Only one of them is still watching the water, so I walk over to her.
"Excuse me, can you tell me what state we're in?" I ask her quietly. She looks at me and laughs, like I just asked the most redundant question ever. My face turns bright red as I stare into the water, it’s almost like there's a city below us. It's so astonishing I take a step back and gasp.
"We aren't in a state, we're directly above Greece." she says to me, "And if you look to your left, you'll see the rest of Olympus." I look over and, there, in the clouds, about twenty feet higher than our own little floating land mass, is a city. The city is so breathtakingly beautiful that I can't help but fall back onto the ground. Sitting there, I hear the girl laughing at my reaction.
“It's truly a sight for newb's.” I look up at her. She'd...she'd fit in as a bully. I laugh lightly to myself, but then she grabs the back of my shirt, ''And now it’s time for you to take a little swim." She whispers in my ear before shoving me into the lake thing.
First, let me explain to you how hard it is to stay afloat when the water is only two feet deep, and there is no bottom. It's very hard. I didn't even have ten seconds to panic before I break through the water and into open air. I can hear her panicked shouts, as apparently, no half-blood should have been able to go past the water, because it’s like an actual lake to them. I close my eyes and, concentrating deeply; start to feel myself slip away.
Chapter 2
- Spoiler:
With a thump I land behind the large group of children that had gathered to watch me fall and splatter. I smile slightly as I stand and brush myself off. The impact wasn't as bad as it should have been. The ground had seemed somewhat softer. I shrug it off as the children, having lost sight of me, start to walk away. One catches sight of me and screams.
"G-G-G-G-G-Ghost!!! Ghost!" At that the other children stop and stare. An alarming screaming takes hold of the wilderness as every child I can see grabs some sort of weapon. My eyes widen in alarm as I start to run away from them. Their screams and shouts are ear splittingly loud. It's as though someone is pulling hails against a chalk board. I'm faster than them by far, but I know it won't be long until the rest of the children in Olympus have circled around, trapping me in. The least I could do is get farther ahead, or so I hope.
Erich, who had heard quickly of my so-called death, stared in awe at me as I ran past him, being chased by the others. As I hear him start to run after me, I push myself more. I can feel my speed gaining as everyone tries to keep up. Just when I thought I had lost all the other children, I hear the others coming around to circle me and trap me. Word has spread faster than I thought it would. Closing my eyes, I push myself to run harder and faster. After moments I leave them all in the dust, so fast, I feel as though I'm flying.
When I open my eyes I find that most of them have given up the chase back before we entered the forest. Wait, forest, I didn't know there was a forest, or even that I was running in it. Closing my eyes again I push myself to lose the other children and Erich who are on my trail still. I feel the wind start to pick up; surely I'm not running that fast? I open my eyes quickly to discover that, upon coming to the edge of the forest, the edge of the floating paradise, I had dived off of the side. I barely hear the half-bloods collective scream as they look over and see me falling.
The territory below me is barren and deserted of all life. I smile to myself as I right myself, and mortal who was to see my landing would die instantly form a heart-attack. I close my eyes and start to imagine soft things like marshmallows, clouds, pillows, feathers, and beds. After what seems like an eternity, I start to wonder when I'm going to splat. Thought it’s only been ten minutes, I know I wasn't high enough in the sky to fall for that long. I slowly open my eyes to see myself standing on the ground with little ripples going out from around me like I jumped into water. I laugh to myself, knowing I just created an earthquake.
Checking myself to make sure I'm okay, I start to disintegrate and get blown away with the wind. After just a matter of moments I start to solidify in the middle of the cabin, where the children, Erich, and Zeus have gathered to commemorate the death of a little known 'half-blood'. I amalgamate in with the others, not really noticeable...to the eyes of a mortal, but Zeus, the god staring me down right now, is not mortal.
Leaving the podium quickly, he rushes to me in only a few long strides. Grabbing my arm roughly, he draws the others attention. He studies me, holding my face to where I have no choice but to look him in the eye. He stares me down and lets me go; I stare back, showing him I'm not afraid of, as one would say the big bad wolf. Roughly he grabs my arm again and pulls me from the crowd.
"YOU!! IT'S YOU ISN'T IT!!!?? YOU'RE HER! YOU, YOU'RE THE HALF-BLOOD GODDESS!" He screams at me harshly, and rather loudly, like it’s a bad thing. The children take herculean steps back, forming a perfect ring around us, as they all wonder What does he mean by 'half-blood goddess'' Erich, knowing this has taken a turn for the worse, instantaneously starts to immediately rush over to us. Gently Erich makes Zeus release his grip on me. I take a step away quickly and rub my arm.
"Zeus, she's just a child, I may not know what you're talking about, but I know whatever you've been looking for, it isn't her." He whispers quietly to Zeus. I gaze up at the two men; they are so tall compared to the normal person. Erich, who must be over seven feet tall, is almost half a foot shorter than Zeus. I shudder, wondering how tall Zeus is when he's not around mortals...or even half mortals.
"Erich, she's the one we've been looking for. The one born of Egyptian and Greek. She's the daughter of Aphrodite and Sekhamet." He whispers. They, the others, stare directly at me, having heard and spread on Zeus's words. I can feel my face flush bright red. I look up at Zeus and he looks back at me, a look of pure resentment in his eyes. Erich looks at us, finally understanding our staring battles.
"So what if that’s who I am?! I am Emma Nameless and proud to be so. My mother is Aphrodite, my father is Sekhamet, and I am not ashamed. Why would I be? I'm the perfect merge of two of the world’s most perfect and almost unbeatable societies." Zeus glares at me and Erich's eyes widen. You can barely hear the 'Oh dear.' he mutters to himself. I start to glow brightly as I get madder at Zeus.
"You think I should be ashamed of being what I am!?" I demand from him, growing taller and taller by the second, "Do you think that I should say 'oh, oh my god, Lord Zeus, I'm so sorry for the way I was born'? Do you think that for a moment I'm going to bow at your feet and worship you like everyone else does just because you seem to think you can bully me!? I've got news for you 'lord' Zeus, I'm not, because I'm more proud of what I am than you are your entire family! And for another thing, you can suck it if you think that even for a moment I'll let you hold your power over me, because SIR the thing is, I WON'T!" I say, yelling the last part at him. Taking a deep breath I realize I'm over thirty foot tall, glowing like a shooting star, and Zeus is looking up at me, not even bother to do like I know he can and grow taller or change his shape or anything.
"If you have a problem with me, FIX YOURSELF!" I say, screaming the last part at him as a blast of energy sweeps out around me, knocking away everything in its way. The kids get blasted to almost the edge of the city. Erich and Zeus only about thirty feet away, but it’s enough, I've made my point I realize as I start to shrink down to my average height and stop glowing.
Zeus stands back on his feet and stares at me, like he can't believe what I just did. Like he can't believe I had the audacity to talk back to him, better yet step up to him and scream at him. Erich gawks at me like he's never seen someone stupid enough to stand up to Zeus before, but eh, he probably hasn’t. I smile to myself, not really believing I had enough bravery to do that.
"And another thing, " I say, stepping up to Zeus, "You have NO right to just jerk me around and yell at me." I say to him. He just stares at me like I'm not a normal person. Like I'm not just like him. Like I'm...like I'm the most astonishing thing he's ever seen and he wants to dissect me to see what makes me tick and if he can get some himself.
As the children start to slowly make their way back, they gaze at me astonished. I look at each and every one of them in turn, waiting for someone to speak up, and waiting for Zeus to stop me. One of the children stares me down, well quite a few of them do. They must be the children of Zeus, judging by the fact they all look like him sorta. Zeus, seeing what is to happen here, in this show down between what could be the most powerful being he's ever seen and his own children, steps back and away, far away.
Lightning from thirty different directions comes speeding towards me. Without even thinking it could hurt me I hold my hand up, facing the Zeus kids, and redirect the lightning back to them. They barely have time to scatter before a hole is blown in the ground where they had been standing.
"Is this REALLY who you want leading you!? A man who, let me rephrase, an indestructible god who lets his own MORTAL children go up against someone that could kill them within seconds? Would you trust your life to this man?" I ask each and every one of them. They all look at me, then to Zeus. After a long minute they all shake their heads, even Zeus' own children. I smile triumphantly and look to Zeus. He gawks at his children, his own children betrayed him, and for what?! A stupid, little fourteen year old brat of a goddess whose so tainted by culture he can't stand her.
"You, you're coming to Olympus, and you're coming now. We'll see what your parents think of your behavior little miss." he says to me quietly and in a hissed voice. A storm starts to move in and I can see the electricity flickering in his eyes. Children start to run as rain starts to pour down. Cross my arms and stomp my foot, I am in a worse mood than he is. Quickly taking power over the storm from him, I dial it up, making it gale force winds and hail. I smirk at him and, within the blink of an eye, I am standing in the middle of a large room, well it's not even a room, just a large stretch of land overlooking the Parthenon, that is filled with twelve different gods. Well, actually, fourteen if you count my father standing away from everyone else like he doesn't belong, which he doesn't, and the cold, dark, gothic looking man that is standing in a dark corner. Instantly I recognize him as Hades, god of the underworld, I also recognize my mother in a chair, exhausted from what might have been a fight. Another god I recognize is Hephaestus, the blacksmith god. I sigh, unknowing who the rest are.
I walk over to a woman tending a fire, "Ma'am, can you tell me who some of those people are?" I ask quietly before realizing there are fifteen gods and goddesses here, she's one also.
She smiles kindly at me, "Well, I am Hestia, that is Athena, Artemis, Apollo, Hermes, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Ares, Dionysus, Hades, Aphrodite, and that man over there, hiding like he doesn't belong, that man is Sekhamet, he's not one of us, he's Egyptian. He and Aphrodite had a child, we have been looking for her for fourteen years, Zeus, Zeus, where is that man?!" She says, getting lost in thought, "Oh, I shouldn't have told you some of that, so keep it to yourself if you will young half-blood." She whispers to me quietly.
I smile at her, keeping it my secret for the time being, and nod. I walk over to the table where the gods and goddesses were discussing something. Barely glancing at me they continue their conversation, with me still unsure as to which one is which. I catch snippets of their conversation. As far as I can tell it’s all about the raging storm outside and how mad Zeus must be. I smile to myself and laugh. All of them quickly stop talking and look at me, all but my mother, she is deep in conversation on the other side of the room with my father.
"Do you know why Zeus is so angry, and why are you here?" One woman, who I'm guessing is Athena, asks. I smile at her sweetly and giggle.
"Oh that storm isn't Zeus's doing. He's mad, but someone is madder than him. He found her, and told her she had to come here, after she yelled at him and made his own family turn against him." I inform them. With wide eyes Athena looks down at me fearfully.
"Child, was this, this person that made him mad, was she the......was she the daughter of Aphrodite and Sekhamet?" She whispers. I nod happily as I make the storm die down. Sekhamet and Aphrodite walk over together slowly and stand behind me, each with a hand on my shoulder. A look of pure and sheer seriousness crosses my face as the other gods and goddesses take a collective gasp.
I smile at them tentatively, sure they're immortal beings that could, and would, probably wipe out the whole population of America with just one hissy-fit, but I could see the terror and horror in their eyes. They're afraid of me, and I don't even know why. I smile at them lightly, trying to put their fears at ease, but all it does is make them think I’m plotting something. I frown and sigh. I look at my mother then, in turn, at my father, who looks back at me, like he wants to be here, well frankly, a lot less that I want to.
"My name is Emma, and I believe you were just talking about me, to me, beside me, gossiping about me. I don't find it very fair that you feel that you can be afraid of me, and not even know me. Yeah sure I made Zeus mad and caused a storm. I even stared him down and screamed at him. I turned his own children against him, but he had that much coming after the way he treated me. I am going to say the same thing I did to him, and that my friends is, that if you don't like me, fix yourselves and get over it." I smile up at my father and mother and they beam proud, happy that I was actually brave enough to stick up for myself.
Out of nowhere a loud, booming voice screams "YOU!" like thunder. At once I'm on the ground, in a fist fight, with a god, that could possible kill me...or so I thought. If only I had known five minutes earlier that I was going to be in a fist fight with one of the most powerful things I had ever met, I wouldn't have been so brave in telling a room full of gods to fix themselves, and get over it.
Maybe, just maybe, I can get out of his grasp long enough for him to realize what he's done. Then again, he won't care; all he wants is for me to be dead, that way he won't have to look at me. I mean, Atlas, can I trade places with you? You can hold him off while I hold up the world! Mabey I just need to fight him off myself. Boy, if I thought confrontation with Zeus was bad, I hadn't seen anything until now.
Chapter 3
- Spoiler:
The first thing I feel is my neck breaking from the impact with the floor. The second thing, the gods fist smashed up against my face as he starts to flip me over onto my stomach. Unwilling to give up, I kick up then hit him in the jaw with a powerful, bone shattering right hook. A startled scream comes from my captor and, for the first time, I see that he is, in fact, not Zeus. Shocked, I don't know what to do. Quickly my captor takes advantage of my state of shock and puts what I believe to be cuffs on my wrists.
"Don't say a word, do you understand? If you come like a nice little girl, we might let you live" He whispers in my ear.
"Ra let her go!" I hear my father shouting. Ra, Egyptian god, oh god no. Another god after me. What’s next? The Egyptians going to war against the Greeks? Ha, that might happen one day, but I doubt it. What happens after that?! Chaos and Apophis unite? As if that would ever happen. I'm not giving up, not now, he's already hurt me.
My hands glow intensely and shatter through the bonds. The glow had momentarily blinded Ra and I took my chance. I did everything I could to keep him away. I threw punches, I kicked, and I got hit, I got hit a lot. With one final, last crushing blow, I have Ra down, his arms bound behind his back with something so powerful, he shouldn't be able to break through it, my own magic.
"Be a nice little Ra and no one gets hurt, got that?" I whisper in the harsh man's ear. A slight sneer covers his face and, before I know what has happened, he has reversed my own magic and used it against me. With his knee in my back and his strong hands holding my wrists. He groans at the Olympians. My mother rushes forward to try to save me, but it's already too late. We're already on our way to where ever he came from.
~~~~~~~~
I awake several hours later in a holding cell. I can hear the chatter of people just outside, and faintly what they're talking about. I sigh and lean against the wall, they're talking about me. Couldn't they tell I can hear them, can't they tell I have feelings too? Maybe they're mad I hurt Ra, well, technically in the long shot he hurt me more than I hurt him. I reach up and feel my neck, realizing my bonds are gone. I groan, my neck is healing nicely and quickly, but it hurts horribly.
Hours pass as I try, uselessly, to find a way out of the holding cell. I've tried teleporting, shrinking, growing, tunneling, and even just screaming, but none of it works. It's like this room is impervious to anything and everything thrown at it.
With a sigh I slump down to the ground and tend tentavely to my broken bones and other wounds. I smile lightly, seeing how well they have healed in the time that has passed since the fight. My mind wonders to why I'm here and why everyone seems to be out to get me. I don't notice the door opening, or the shadow like figure stepping in.
I hear a light noise that might be a groan or a sigh and look up. Seeing the man I jump to my feet, and he motions for me to follow him. Having no other choice, I do as I'm told, but decide to bombard him with questions about why I'm here, and what they want.
"Why did Ra attack me? What did I do to him? Is he mad at me? Does Ra hate me? Do you hate me? Are you my executioner? Am I going to die?" I ask him, looking up at the tall man. He's different than the gods; maybe he's a monster or something. I'm not sure, but I know he's not a god. The man shrugs.
"Gods don't die." He says simply, "But believe me, if we wanted you dead, you wouldn't be talking to me right now."I stare at him in shock. The great man has a deep voice, a kind voice, but it's also harsh all at the same time. How can someone so, so bent on my destruction be like that? I haven't the least clue, but I do decide to act like a nice little girl. Until, that is, I get to question Ra and leave; I'll flee, far, far away from here.
With a sigh the great man opens a door. This place is like; well it’s like the inside of a pyramid. I laugh to myself, it probably IS a pyramid. The chatter immediately stops as I enter the room. Ra smiles at me.
"Now, may I introduce out guest of honor, Emma. Emma these are the proud, much prouder than any Greek, Egyptian gods, much like I. This is Hathor, Nut, Geb, Osiris, Set, Horus, Isis, Thoth, Anubis, Ma'al, Amun, and Bastet. You have already had the...pleasure of meeting me." He says, weighing his words before he speaks.
"Oh, yes, the pleasures of having you break my neck and beat my brains out. Oh, Ra, such a PLEASRUE to have met you under such welcoming circumstances." I say sarcastically. I gaze around the room; I do not find comfort in being here, not at all. The other gods and goddesses turn quickly to look at Ra.
"You did WHAT to this child!?" Demands the one called Nut.
"You had no right to go and hurt her; you promised us you would bring her here through her own will, not yours." Hisses the one called Bastet. Bastet, goddess of cats, I think. Nut, she's like, mother earth right? No wait, its Father Earth and that’s Geb, she's the sky. I smile lightly; they care about my well being, even if Ra doesn't.
"Come now, we must not dwell on the mistakes of the past, only the mistakes of the future, if there are any." He says soothingly to the crowd of angry and unsettled immortals, "For one to fly, you must learn to walk first, so for one to obey, she must learn punishment."
I sigh deeply, wondering what they want. I put my head in my hands, why does it feel as though this whole conversation was never spoken in words?
"Oh that’s because it wasn't dear." The goddess, Isis, beside me whispers, "This is simply in your mind, a great skill all Egyptian immortals have. The ability to read minds, comes in quite handy. You can make it where people can't tell you're tapping into their mind, you can insert thoughts, and you can keep people from your mind. You seem to be pretty advanced if you can do this already, at the tender age of fourteen." As I watch her, her mouth never moves, except for the small smirk playing on her mouth.
"I disagree Ra; the only way to learn to obey is through guidance and help, not through punishment." I speak aloud. Ra gapes at me and the one called Horus grabs me by the arm roughly. What is it with people and grabbing that one arm? Is it magical or something, do they think they'll get extra powers?
"How did you know what was said child? HOW!?" He demands, "You have not the talent to do so, if you believe you do, then you are a liar." He hisses at me. The others stare in shock at us. I glare at Horus.
"If you think that your magic is so much better than mine, why don't we test it? I mean, you can use your powers to battle against another right, or are you too big a wimp to hurt an innocent child that claims to read minds?" I whisper to him. I hear scoffs of An innocent child? No innocent child is a goddess.
"You, come with me, we'll see just how powerful you think you are." He hisses at me quietly, pulling me along by my hand out the door of the room. Without stopping by guards and other men in hot, metal suits, he marches straight down stairwells and through corridors, until miraculously we somehow end up outside, on a small panel that, as we step onto it, starts to float higher and grow. It grows until it covers everything that is below up. Looking over the edge, I can tell we are directly over the Great Pyramids’ in Giza.
"You, to the other side, we will test how well you can control the powers you say you have already developed." He says to me quietly, "Now, read my mind, and yes, I do mean from that distance." I sigh and quickly find myself slipping into his mind unnoticed. I start to repeat every last thought he has.
"Isis sure looked good today in her dress. Wonder why she's been ignoring me? Ha, the stupid little prate is saying something. I wonder what. Why doesn't she speak up a little? Ah yes, that’s better, now I can hear her. Wait, what is she saying? What!? No!!! Stop that, get out, and get out of there! GET OUT NOW!!!" I smile at him and he stares. Walking over to me he already has started to bombard me with questions. One of them is all I catch.
"How did you do that so efficiently and quickly?" I smile at him and lock my lips like a child would lock away a secret. I subtly insert a thought of praise for me, a thought that he should kiss the ground I walk on. Without really believing he'd do it, I turn to go back to my side of the arena. I hear something hit the deck and turn quickly to see Horus on his hands and knees, kissing the ground.
"Emma, Emma I am sorry for the way I treated you, could you ever forgive me? Please, I beg of you kind Emma. Please." I smirk and I hear the other gods laughing, watching from somewhere else.
"Eh, that’s okay, you can have your mind back, and you’re not a very fun Barbie." I inform him quickly, walking back over to my side. He stands, mad at himself that he let a little girl, immortal goddess or not, get to him like that. How could he do it to himself? I quickly slip from his mind and back into mine, smiling like a champion.
"Next, your godly form let’s see that. That is a...less basic thing to do." I stare at him and sigh. I close my eyes and think. Godly form? What would that be exactly? Hm...I would be, let’s see, godly form would be tall, thirty feet tall? Yes, that would be correct. Godly form, shimmery, yeah, godly form would definitely be shimmery, but not so shimmery you would notice. The type of shimmery like oh, that person is truly happy. That type of shimmery. Wouldn’t I also have another feature? Like a head or something, yeah, a head. An eagle, yeah, an eagle, because I’m free, and nothing can stop me.
I smile lightly to myself then hear a gasp. Well, it’s a collective gasp, but a gasp all the same. I open my eyes to see myself towering over everything else, creating a bit of a shadow across the land. From the shadow, I notice my head is not that of a human but an eagle. I hear clapping, loud and proud. Slowly, ever so slowly, as if to enjoy the moment forever, I start to shrink down. Back to human Emma size, back to human Emma head. I smile proudly.
Horus rushes over to me and bows at my feet. I blink, unknowing what’s happening. Very soon all the others come and are in a circle, bowed around me, like I’m their queen. Lastly Ra walks over, with an apologetic look he kneels in front of me and presents me with a sword that seems to be made from the very sky itself. Nut looks up and smiles at me, maybe it is made of the sky. I smile lightly as I hear Ra’s words spoke in my head.
Child, I am sorry that we, no, that I doubted your abilities and who you are. If I had known then that you were the promised child, I would have never treated you the unfair way I did. I hope you will accept my apology and accept this sword. Nut made it many millennia ago, hoping that it would be put to use for good one day.
I nod lightly at his speech, not wanting to disrupt the silence that has taken us all over. Slowly and carefully I take the sword and look into it. I see the stars twinkling and planets orbiting in galaxies. I smile lightly and look at Nut. I nod my acceptance and thanks and her face turns an odd shade, a color so blue, that it outshines even the brightest red. I smile and hang the sword at my side. I rush over and hug her quickly.
Unsure of what to do until the others encourage her, she hugs me back, planting a kiss on my for head. Lady Nut, thank you for being so nice to me in the, little, very little time I have been held here. I whisper in her mind quietly. Her eyes widen.
“Aren’t you staying?! The war, Emma darling we need you. If we don’t have you, the Greeks will win.” She whispers to me quietly as the others stare in wonder, sure that I had known of the horrifying epidemic that would soon, all too very soon, sweep the world.

Erg...so'kay, those got really small and hard to read...so......
CHAPTER 6
I sigh deeply, why in the world is he here and what does he want? Oh, stupid me, of course he wants an explanation. His knowing glare shows that he knows everything I am about to say, or at least he thinks he knows what I’m going to tell him. How am I supposed to explain in more detail that I killed the mermaid, that is, if that’s what you would call her. More like a demon if you ask me.
“Zeus.” I say, regarding him with a slight smile. I slowly start to slip into his thoughts. Nicholas glances repeatedly from me to Zeus and back again. I watch Zeus intently, as his brow furrows and he tries to determine whether to let me talk, or send me to the underworld so Hades can deal with me.
Maybe she could be a strong ally. I don’t trust her though; she does have the treacherous Egyptian blood in her. If you give me five seconds to look into it, they’re probably the ones who have stolen the golem. Eh, golems are useless anyway, but she may be able to find this one. It’s important that… I slip from his mind, completely unnoticed by anyone but Nicholas.
“I hear that you could use some help Zeus. If you clear me of the charge of murdering Marley, then I may help you. Do we have a deal?” Both his and Nicholas’s mouths drops, speechless. They’re wondering how I know that he, that they need help.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about you little traitor.” Zeus says defiantly. Nicholas stares at him, knowing that was a bad choice of Zeus.
“I advise you let her help in finding the golem. If you don’t, then we may never find it. Plus, she has more power than I have ever seen. Look at her aura.” He says quietly, staring at me. I can’t figure out what he’s looking at, but he’s looking intently, as if bemused. Zeus stares at me also, but not comprehending what Nicholas is seeing.
“I am sorry, but I never developed the skill to see. I don’t care what you say, she will never, NEVER, be an ally to us.” My eyes flicker to him and, in a flash, Spirit of Nut is out of my hand and imbedded in the wall between them. The galaxies, stars, planets, and other celestial things that preside in the woman that is Nut, sparkle and move about in the sword vigorously. Nicholas starts to study the sword. Reaching out to touch it, his hand is blown back and he gasps.
“Never in my life time have I seen something so…powerful. No aura in the world should be able to touch it. None but the creator, and a aura match that it was destined to be with. There shouldn’t be an aura alive this powerful.” He turns to face me. “Nothing normal, nothing natural, not even a god would have that aura. Yet here you are, standing right before me, glowing of the same strange aura the sword was made for. You have…a breathtaking and non-describable aura that I hope one day you could see for yourself.” He says, bowing deeply to me.
Zeus looks dumbstruck. You can see it right there in his face. He’s never seen Nicholas do anything so…so gentleman like and formal.
“Offer her the chance. Offer it now before she decides to treat you like she did the mermaid that betrayed her.” Nicholas hisses, standing straight up. Zeus closes his mouth and throws his nose high in the air.
“I will not. I will never. I must discuss this with the others. I won’t make this decision without them.” He says, turning and leaving.
Nicholas shakes his head lightly, muttering under his breath, “That man never liked his family, so why does he consult them.” Like it’s the mystery of the century…or well millennia…or actually history of life. Which it may very well be.
I look at him, “Nicholas, do…do you think you could teach me alchemy?” I ask him quietly. It’s a stupid question to be asking, but I want to know.
“I can, but you already know it. Everything you are, everything you do Miss Emma, is alchemy. You are the master here, and I am the student. Do you understand what I mean?” He asks, smiling lightly. I start to wonder why he looks so…so…so young.
“Yeah, I guess. Are you basically saying that, though alchemy is science and all, that no matter what it’s traced back to the immortals…or well the powers of the immortals?” I ask him quietly.
“Exactly. Unfortunately I was the only person to ever truly understand that…besides my wife Parenelle…” he says quietly. The distant and sad look on his face almost makes me want to give him a hug. I start to wish he wasn’t a guy, then I could feel at ease around him.
“Mr. Flamel, I’m sorry for what happened to your wife.” I say quietly, “I’m sure Parenelle was a fine woman, and that you should be thankful she was in your life. Don’t dwell on the fact she’s gone, dwell on the fact you knew her.” I say to him, trying to encourage him.
“Call me Nick and such strong, intelligent words from someone so young. You may have great potential as a fortune teller.” He says with a joking smile.
“Yeah yeah, but now I think I have to go find Zeus and hope he hasn’t screwed my life up too much.” I say to Nick. Without giving him time to say another word I make my way back outside to stroll the city. Hm…this reminds me off what heaven would look like, I mean, what those of Christian religion at my school described it as, but it seems more like Atlantis to me. Streets paved with gold, advanced technology, beautiful, not to mention exotic, creatures and nice weather. I start to reach the building I remember from my last visit.
I smile lightly, noticing that it was the bridge between the god-ling’s forest and the ancient city. I quicken my pace and smile at some of the bystanders. I can tell that they think I’m a god-ling. I look around and sigh deeply. Time to put on your brave face and show the world what you’ve got Emma.
I take each step slowly and carefully, wary not to disrupt anything. I don’t want them to get any madder at me than they already are. As I enter the large room, the gods and goddesses turn to face me. Their eyes, fearful yet excited, follow me as I approach Zeus. I can tell they’re waiting to see what I’m going to say.
“So? What have I been punished too? You won’t let me help you, so are you going to make my life the underworld now?” I ask him, glaring slightly. I can feel the eyes of the others on me…they can’t believe I’m such a smart mouth.
“I have discussed this with the others…we have agreed to send you to Hades for puni-“
“ZUES!! Shut up this instant liar. You know very well that we have all agreed to let her take the assignment.” Says a woman close to him…she must be Hera…she must be his wife. Zeus shrinks away into a corner like a bad child. I can’t help but laugh.
“Emma…we’re going to let you have this assignment, because we know you’re the only one who can complete it…the Egyptians have stolen a very old, and very sacred golem. It is, and forever will be, the first of its kind. It is what you would call a…robot.” I stare at the man. He looks older and worn. Like a blacksmith…Hephaestus, it has to be him. He looks like...well, he looks disfigured slightly, but not much. It is quite a major shock compared to the other gods though.
“How will I recognize it?” I ask quietly.
“By its sheer strength and looks. It is made of pure silver, gold, and kryptonite. It looks like a normal human, all but color. It is capable of everything, yet nothing at the same time…it is the most powerful thing in existence…and they want to give it to mortals. If we don’t get it back…well…it won’t be good…” He says urgently. I nod, stunned.
“You understand then?” Asks Athena, “That, you will have any and all resources you need. We will help you when you need it, but we can’t always. You will have the entire of Olympus at the palm of your hand…do you promise not to abuse this?”
“I swear on my life…” I say quietly. The gods nod and dismiss themselves…all but one. By her side is a doe, and on her back is a bow. Slung over her shoulder is a quiver…she must be Artemis. She walks over to me slowly, quietly, and elegantly.
“Child…blessed be your name, for you are about to embark on one of the most dangerous trips of your young life…and this won’t be the last.” She whispers, putting her cool hand against my forehead. It glows a bright, but not blinding, blue. She smiles at me then, without another word, gets blown away with a sudden and swift breeze.
I walk out, into the forest. It’s not even been five minutes and everyone has already heard news of what happened. I walk through the forest, half-blood’s and magical creatures alike parting out of my way as I pass. My mind starts to hum a song…a tune more so…
You are unforgettable, indescribable, forever desirable. My mind repeats to me quietly. I block it out, not caring what my thoughts have to say. Especially if it’s utter and total bull like what I’m hearing right now. I clamp down hard on my mind to shut it up. I look around, and, closing my eyes to feel unnoticed as I walk, feel someone start to walk beside me. I blink and automatically recognize the person as one of the daughters of Aphrodite…one of my sisters.
“If you’re really who they say you are, then I don’t want you dead. You’re going to need allies during this, and we’ve got one here in camp for you. We call him Two-Face, and for all we know that could be his actual name. He doesn’t get close to many people…well many people don’t get close to him. You’ll understand why. He’s in the arenas.” She says to me quietly.
I nod and, with her directions leading me, follow a path that another says leads to the arena…they have an arena? No…I realize immediately that this is no arena. This is a battleground for bloodshed, they just tried to sugar-coat the truth. I look around and see no one. I bite my lip and decide to practice a little with my sword. I call it and twirl it in my hand.
I smile devilishly and look around for a target. Seeing none I instantly attack a tree. Now, that may seem stupid. I know ‘What’s a sword going to do against a tree?’ Well, you’d be surprised what a sword is going to do against a tree. I slash with my sword, each movement more powerful than the last, taking chunks of wood from the tree with each hit. I jab the blade deep into what’s left of the tree and sigh deeply.
“If only you could throw a shooting star…” I whisper quietly. After a matter of moments of resting, I see a small, comet like, light in the sword. Barely distinguishable from the other celestial subjects in the sword…and it’s headed straight for the end of the sword.
Only a little too late do I realize what’s happening. I turn and run, as fast as I can, the other direction. Within moments the tree explodes, sending me flying away from it. I hit the ground and the sword clatters to the ground next to me. I look at it and notice the little moving star is gone. I cough and let the ringing leave my ears. I’ve just discovered one of many, many, very important things this sword can do…it can call stars.
I sit up and look around. Pushing myself into a crouching position I grab the sword and take in the scene of debris around me. Not only did the tree I slashed up explode, but a full ten foot radius around it is whipped out. I wonder what this thing could, and would, do if out in the open.
I stand up and look around. What else could this do…Hm…I get a sickly evil look on my face and decide to try something. If that was a shooting star…I point the tipoff the blade at another expanse of trees.
“Super nova…” I whisper. Barely have the words made it out of my mouth before what seems to be a giant blast erupts from the end of the sword. The blast changes, taking everything…well…the tree’s in near proximity. It turns into what could be called a mini-black hole. I blink as the remnants of the trees it destroyed are pulling in by sheer force of gravity as it starts to shrink back into the sword.
The shock of what happened is almost enough to make me drop the sword. Keyword…almost. I keep a good grip on the sword, though in my slight confusion at what just happened, I let it drop and hit the ground. Where is that boy…Two-Face? Surely the commotion would have drawn him out by now?
That’s when I see the lone figure standing a bit away. It starts stalking over to me and I regain my grip on my sword. I raise it and send a shooting star at him, or her. They dodge out of the way quickly and I send another, and another, and another until they’re within actual view. Their reflexes are fast…something has to be able to get them. I look the person up and down. Starting with their feet, because that’s where the last shooting star, comet thing hit. I notice the persons jeans are a guyish style. I look them up and get to his face.
I blink and stare. How could it be? No…it’s not possible…it can’t be possible. He can’t…no never…he…how…Clearly my confusion was registering on my face.
“So…maybe jumper isn’t so stupid, nor random…nor normal as I thought she was.” He says to me. I can tell what he’s referring to…I can tell he has heard that I’m different that what he’s seen. I can tell that I am defiantly not what he expected.
He steps up to me and looks me dead in the eye. I am staring into what was my life…I’m staring into what could be my death. I am staring into the eyes of the boy who saved me when I literally dropped into California.
and there is chapter 6...you should be able to read it now...

Re: Eternally Tainted (Update 1-11-11)
Okay, I finally got the time to edit your story all the way. Here comes your edits!
Firstly, the title is pretty freaking awesome. =3
"The couple strolled aimlessly [...] This couple is running in fear"
----Contradictory. Also telling.
"She knows if they're found, they're going to be put to torture."
----That is a strange way of putting it... Consider revising.
The woman is allowed to hold the baby right after birth, unless there are complications. I believe the mother has rights, and the father can't take the baby away without her consent.
There are some punctuation errors throughout the story. The most common one involves quotations.
"Why I'm here? Because my father thinks I'm mental and likes to waste his money on useless, idiotic, and not to mention stupid therapy." I say to her matter-of-factly.
----"Therapy" should be followed by a comma, not a period. The only time this doesn't happen is if you use an exclamation mark or a question mark.
----When quotes are followed by a non-proper noun, the word is lower-case. So if that quote was followed by "he," then the "he" would be lower-case. Does that make any sense? I'm afraid I may be mumbling.
The therapist's reaction was really weird and random.
"Let me give you a little history on me shall I?"
----EVIL! Telling! Alert! Alert! This is a horribly common mistake I see in a lot of new writers and even some published writers. "Backing up" to tell the background of the character pulls the reader from the story. This is the kind of thing you need to sneak in there. Lucky for you, all you have to do is remove that sentence, and I think it will be fine.
Then get rid of "Now, back to the story? Where was I? Oh, yes, I was telling you what happened when I got home I believe!"
"Yes, THAT Aphrodite, Greek god of love and beauty."
----Should be goddess. ;]
"She's just as greek as she is Egyptian!"
----Greek
Instead of using all caps, use italics. It's okay for forums and stuff, but otherwise it should be italics.
Watch your homophones such as your and you're.
"I have not a clue!"
----Formal and weird. Out of character.
"Actually, if I had known thenthat I have powers, how powerful I am,"
I'm gunna stop now cause I have something going on. I'm so sorry for making you wait! I'll post more edits soon.

One thing for basically everything, a comma has to come before and after a name.

Re: Eternally Tainted (Update 1-11-11)
Chapter 7.
Two Face Decides To Talk Some BS:
If I was to pick a time to die, it would be right now. Why, one might ask? Well, because it’s simply an amazing shock to the system to see the one person you thought you would never have to see again, therefore never have to pay back for saving your life. Makes perfect sense, right? That’s what I thought, that I’d just…find a way to kill myself right then and there, but then I remembered that they need my help, and to help them I need his.
“Maybe I’m not, but you have no room to judge. I thought you were some random idiot I’d never have to see again. I never thought I would get the chance to pay you back…” I hiss at him quietly.
“Pay me back? Really, are you going to? I could use a few new weapons…and a new armor. Maybe you could get that for me, to pay me back for, you know, saving your life and all.”
“First off, smart one, I was being sarcastic. Secondly, you didn’t save my life, you just saved me from impact with the ground that never had a chance to kill me and if I braced myself properly would have been rather soft for a landing.”
“Aye…I see that you already know your heritance? Your…not so mortal nor half heritance?”
“Well of course, you incompetent idiot, now tell me why it is that I need your help if I’m to succeed in my…quest or journey, whatever you wish to call it.”
“For one, I’m special…good with weapons. Two, I can convince people of things easily. Three, I’m a good tracker. You need me, and you know it, so don’t play it off as if you don’t or you’ll never end this war before the thing has began…and let me tell you, it’s pretty close to beginning…Besides, you may need me to save your life again.” He finishes, going from extreme seriousness to utter idiocy, and he knows it, because he planned it this way.
“More like you’ll need saving.” I mutter under my breath as I turn to go, but as I do I feel his hand on my shoulder.
“You’re not leaving. Not yet, at least.” As I turn to look at him, I can hear him…but his mouth isn’t moving, and I realize that I’ve drifted into his mind, or it’s drawn me in, because I know I’m supposed to answer the question…Who are her parents?
“Sekhamet…” I whisper to him quietly, “and Aphrodite…” I let the sentence fall. After a few moments of quietness, in which I think he’s getting his thoughts straight, he starts laughing, dropping his hand and clutching his sides like this is the funnies thing he’s ever heard.
“Y-You’re joking, right?” The look of utter seriousness on my face sends him laughing again, “O-Oh my g-god, I’m stuck with a half-pansy!” His laughing is starting to get annoying, how can they stand him here?
“Pansy is as pansy does, so let’s have fun and figure out who’s the pansy in this town.” I hiss at him as he stands. In his moment of confusion I bring my foot between his legs, and laugh as he doubles over. “Pansy is as pansy does, and you’re the pansy in my world.” I say to him as he tries to recollect himself.
“M-Maybe…maybe you’re not such a p-pansy after all…” He breaths in a harsh whisper. I smirk and start to walk away.
“Come on Mr. big and bad ‘ooohhh I’m so scarry’ two face nameless person.” I say to him, turning to walk back wards as I study him. He slowly gets to his feet, gritting his teeth and shooting me the evil eye.
“I have a name you know…it’s just no one ever thought to ask what it is…”
“Really now? I guess I’ll be first. Two Face what IS your name, exactly?”
“Andrew…my name is…Andrew…” He says after much thought, probably wondering if he should actually tell me. I nod lightly. Andrew…who knew such a person like him would actually have a real, normal, name?
I nod lightly then turn to head back to the inner part of the forest with the rest of the little god-lings. I can hear him following me as he casually makes his way around the wreckage from the tree earlier. Catching up to me he falls into step. Right, left, right, left. My converse, echoed by his Nikes, make us sound like a business woman in heels. It’s just started to get annoying when we step onto the streets of Olympus, or should I say the silent streets of Olympus. It’s like noise can’t be heard in the city unless wanted.
“It’s because there’s a spell you know. Hecate, well she got the biggest headache from all the street noise when she visited, if she visited, that she finally got fed up with it. Being the goddess of spells she, well naturally, put a spell on it.”
“Is that true, or are you just lying to sound smart?” I ask him suspiciously.
“I’d never lie to you. I mean, I’m supposed to be getting on your good side right?”
“I guess I’ve got to believe you, huh? What else do you know about the city?”
“Oh a lot…quite a lot more than most people actually. More than Eric, the lazy excuse for smart around here.”
“Hey that’s so rude…” I say, smiling lightly, “Let’s just get back to the tour I’m now going to make you give me.” He smirks and we start to walk again. The citizens of Olympus are friendly, much more friendly than earlier, while we walk around the town. I’m surprised at the beauty and size of it all.
He rolls his eyes but gives me a smile and continues walking at a brisk pace. Forced to follow him I ask the question that I’ve been dying to ask, “How does it float?” I ask softly.
“Well, the gods use their powers to keep it up of course! What an easy question to answer, don’t you know how to ask anything hard?” He asks sharply in a playful voice. I stare at him for a moment and he frowns slightly, “What’d I do wrong?”
I shake my head, “Nothing nothing. “I whisper, having actually noticed the dramatic changes in his personality after he discovered who I am. I know I should be suspicious, but I’m beyond that at the moment.
“Come on you’ve gotta see this, it’s truly amazing.” He says softly, changing direction drastically. Trying to keep up with him he leads me to a giant…park looking place in the middle of the city.
“Why’d you bring me here?” I ask him curiously.
“To see the nymphs and dryads of course! We don’t have them in the forest, for some reason there aren’t any. Must be because of all the fighting and destruction that takes place.” He says sadly. Maybe he does care for something, that’s the way it looks…like he cares for nature.
“So why are we here to see them, exactly?” I ask him as he leads me through the trees. I hear music coming from a bit off and realize that must be where we’re going.
“Apollo makes sure they all play music. They like it, really, because it gives them something to do. They’ll play anything, they know every song you could possibly imagine.” He says softly as we enter a clearing. “I come here a lot and sing with them.”
I look at him, ‘You sing?!” I ask, shocked. He blushes lightly as if embarrassed.
“Yeah I do. Only a little though, because I’m not that good, but it’s enough for them.” They greet us with open arms, shooting smiles at us and giggling at their own jokes that don’t make any sense. “Would you like to hear a song?”
Andrew’s voice snaps me back to reality and I smile softly, nodding, “Yeah sure, why not? I’d like to hear you sing.” He leads me to a empty spot in the grass. I sit down and he goes back to the Nymphs and Dryads, telling them what song to do. Like wildfire they spread the word. Within moments the beginning notes of Break Your Little Heart by All Time Low. He starts to sing like his words are true, like he means them. His voice is true and pure, he’s an amazing singer and it’s like he’s rehearsed this song a million times.
I smile brightly, listening to him. He looks directly at me like his words really are meant for me, and he’s so good I start to think maybe they are meant for me. I shrug the thought away and smile as he finishes the song.
“I’m gonna break your little heart
Show you to the door
Sew yourself shut, now you’re begging for more
‘Cause there’s nothing surgery can do
When I break your little heart in two”
I stare at him, grinning as he looks at me, wondering what I thought. I jump up and go to him, “Amazing.” I whisper, “It was like you meant what you said. Like your words were meant for me.” I say to him. The look in his eyes says that I don’t know how true my words are but his smile says that it was a joke. Believing his smile, not his eyes, I leave with him back to the forest.
