The Lake

Malecai patted her arm comfortingly and felt his eyes getting heavy. "We should get off the ground." He yawned.

Marina mumbled, "Boo." She sat up grogaly adn looked at him. "I need sugar." She laughed, "Like now."

Malecai smiled and began climbing the tree, throwing a granola bar at her head. "It's lactose-free!" He called as he climbed higher.

"Ow." Marina complained, rubbing her head. She guessed it was payback for her throwing the applesauce. Oh well, she thought. Marina stood up and looked at the stump of the tree, "And you're climbing because?" She asked him.

"I said that we needed to get off the ground!" Malecai called down from a nearby tree.

Marina frown, "No." She kicked some dirt and watched it skid into the lake. "I'm not going to, I like it on the ground where there is no elevation"

Malecai poked his head down beside hers. "C'mon. I won't let you fall." He offered her a hand.

"N-No." Marina protested, "I can't"

It was obvious that she was afraid of heights. Malecai sighed and hung on his branch by his legs, swaying gently beside her. "I take it that you don't like heights."

"Nope." Marina mumbled, "I absolutely hate them one hundred percent of the time I'm on this Earth."

Malecai raised and eyebrow. "Really? You don't sleep on the top bunk?"

"No way." Marina smiled softly, "I sleep in nice little single bed in the corner by the door."

Malecai smiled and pretended to pout. "Aaaallllllright. I guess Marina doesn't trust me. Boohoo."

Marina smiled, "I do- I just don't like heights."

"Again with this?" Marina teased, "This isn't a Disney movie sweetie."

"It could be...SHALALALALA DON'T BE SHY SOMETHING SOMETHING!" Malecai laughed and grabbed her arms. "Come on!"

"I don't know..." Marina mumbled. "Plus the next line in the song is kiss the girl if you didn't know."

"I don't have time for looking up lyrics." Malecai blushed and began to pull her up.

I don't either." Marina replied, struggling ro stay on the ground, "I just watch that movie way too much."

"Enough stalling. Up you go!" Malecai smiled and lifting Marina off the ground.

Marina squirmed as she was lifted up onto the branch, "Gods I hate you." She grumbled. Marina kept her eyes on a leaf on the tree to keep her from having a panic attack. Even thou they were like three feet above the ground.

"I got you!" Malecai laughed as he shifted his grip to wrap an arm around her waist and hoist her up on the branch that he was hanging on. He sat on the branch as well. "See? It's not so bad."

bic- Marina burried her face into his shoulder, "It is bad." She groaned. "Ugg."

"I'm not gonna let you fall, Marina!" Malecai groaned in return and leaned against the tree. "Trust me. I'm a genius."
