The machine that measured heart-rate was still beeping, one long whine. Patricia looked from one to another and switched it off. The CRP wasn't doing any good. She was too far gone. It'd been too late.

But Patricia was already taking off her mask and the other doctors followed suit. They looked slightly shocked. "She's dead," Patricia said hollowly. It shouldn't have been a surprise, but it always hurt when a patient died.

"Okay." Hanson smiled contentedly and continued on his way to the ice-cream store. It was one of those fifties ice-cream parlors. "Hi, can I have a rocky road and a vanilla?" He asked and looked back down at Nix. "Do you want some sort of topping, like a cherry or gummy bears...?"

"Um, gummy bears please," She asked him, as she searched her pockets for a few dollar bills. She only managed to find four dollars and a quarter. She smoothed the crumpled bills onto her jeans, and she looked at the amount, hoping the ice cream wasn't more than four dollars and a quarter.

The ice cream was six dollars and a quarter. He gently pushed Nix's hand down and took out enough money for both of them and handed it to the person. He gave Nix her ice cream cone and took his, thanking the guy.

Nix looked puzzled on why he didnt accept her money. Oh well. She smiled at him gratefully, plucking off the gummy bears by color order and popping them into her mouth before working on the ice cream, as she wasnt sure if they were to sit or leave the place.

Atop Hanson's and Nix's heads, an Iris message suddenly appeared. Why the IM was above the pair's heads, Hazel didn't know. Two faces showed in the IM: Noonian's and Hazel's. Hazel cleared her throat, hoping she'd been loud enough to catch their attention.

Nix heard a noise atop her head. She nearly dropped her icecream, as she saw two people atop her. She showed no recognition of these people, but thought of them as strangers. With her free hand, she prodded Hanson on the side. "Why are there people on top of us?" She whispered, fearfully, as she continued to stare up.

Rom the image, I could be seen, looking very uncomfortable by the fact that I was staring in to the face of a hospital. I wasn't so much watching Nix and Hanson, a I was all the doctors with various needles and knives. It took all my strength to maintain my composure.
